Don't miss having a drink at the million dollar bar in the Wart Hotel in Jackson Hole. Walking outside at night during the cool weather is a treat to the senses with all the wood smoke scenting the crisp air. Went elk hunting there during my time in the early 70's. Great place to be alone with your thoughts.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I wanted to make sure I'll be able to hike to those spots. Some people told me I need to go in the summer, but the thing is, I have 10 days off in April so I wanted to use it wisely.

Yes, as said already, Jackson Hole will make you feel small in the world in a 30 minute drive from town. You all of a sudden are 2-3 miles from anything else with Grizzlies, Moose, and Wolves. A half day hike there can really take you completely away from society and immerse you in a different world.

Colorado is awesome but I never really feel any adrenaline to be "safe" when hiking there. Jackson Hole is just more rugged and wilderness-y to me. Its mostly just in your head, but having Grizzlies and Wolves and Moose and Buffalo helps, but the mountains are also just not as rolling and more dangerous feeling to me.

If you have time off then absolutely go OP. It will be a different vacation then a summer trip. But there's a ton to do and I can assure you you will have a great time. Just be flexible with the weather. If its late April you'll have some warm days and be able to do some hiking.

I went in mid May this year and it is really beautiful country. However, a lot of the hikes were difficult due to there still being snow on the ground. I imagine that it would be even worse in April.

Definitely pencil in some rafting on the Snake River. Plenty of cliffs to jump from. Jenny Lake is gorgeous, haven't been to Delta Lake.

Delta Lake

I don't know who told you about Delta lake, but you should not take any more of their advice, ever. This hike is not easy and is mostly off-trail. Sending an inexperienced hiker to delta lake is as sure a death as throwing them off a cliff.

You really need to learn how to research.

This makes no sense.

Could not be more wrong. Any hiking will be with snow shoes.

If you want to hike up to alpine lakes, early August is the soonest I would visit Jackson Hole. If you're going to visit Jenny Lake, I would plan take the ferry across and hike up Cascade Canyon. I agree with the guy that recommended Green River lakes earlier. Give yourself enough time to hike to the upper lake.

Apparently dude is going to the wrong parts of Colorado. Plenty of ruggedness in the San Juan’s and Gores.

Montana may be more spectacular than Wyoming.

You can hit up Jackson Hole, Glacier National, Coeur d'Alene, and the Wallowas in one trip, if you want. Some beautiful scenery up that way.

They’re accessible without gear by mid to late June.
