Tell me about Guntersville, AL

We are headed to the Smoky Mountains next week for 10 days. On the way there, we like to split the trip into 2 days.

I am looking for ideas/recommendations about the area. Basically, we would be arriving late afternoon so dinner recommendations would be helpful. Are there any places we should try?

I also noticed there is a state park nearby. My wife and I like to walk/hike so if that is worth checking into for a few hours on the day we leave, we would definitely consider it. We have already been to Noccalula Falls near Gadsden a few times.
