A large sports bottle or other cup with a nozzle. Fill it with water and use it to squirt off the sands from their hands.
It’s tough. They sit up and are happy. Put hand in the sand. Then put hand in their mouth or rub their eyes and they cry.
Best solution I’ve found for quickly de sanding their sands is an old school sports water bottle.

Chairs, outdoor blanket, oversized umbrella shade, an ice chest with wet hand towels.
If you don't have one already, but a bag specifically for beach/sand/pool. We bought the Beachcomber bag from Costco, $40 vs. the $90 Bogg bag. It's much easier to transport around sand and easier to clean.

Baby powder to get sand off. This is a life saver.

Beach trips with my baby were fine on the actual beach, under a tent, in a little chair/cradle type thing, I don't know what you call it. At the beach he just slept, the sound of the ocean and the breeze knocked him out. It was a very relaxing time. However, when not on the beach, it was a nightmare. Traveling with a baby and staying in hotel rooms and going out to eat and all the other "beach trip" stuff is not very enjoyable with a baby. You'll survive, just go into the vacation knowing what you are getting into.

Not for an 8 month old, but some advice for kids a little older, put them in a lifejacket. Not a stupid swimming life jacket with arm floaters designed for pools….a real life jacket like you’ll wear in the boat. For $20, you don’t need to worry about shite with the kids running in and out the water.

The going out to eat part is rough when traveling with young kids. 3 meals a day, plus a need for snacks, without a kitchen of your own gets old real quick. Like a 2 night maximum.
A kitchen is a must when traveling with little kids for longer than a couple days.

sharks, stingray, pedophiles, rip tides, rogue waves, rabid dogs, simply getting disoriented and lost, among other reasons a responsible parent needs to worry about shite at the beach with small children.

A blow up pool with high sides for the beach under an umbrella. You will thank me later.
