South of France: Stay in Nice as a base or multiple different places?

Looking like a Southern France/ Riviera trip next year. My wife's 20 something cousin and her husband want to go and really want us to come with them
Currently have a flight into Nice but the flight out has not been booked yet.
We are debating on several options:
1) Nice the entire time (approximately 8-9 nights), using it as a base of operations and seeing the rest of the Riviera by car or train. Doing day trips to Menton, Eze, St Paul de Vence, Antibes, etc etc, maybe even to Provence
2) Most of it in Nice, then fly to and fly out of Paris for a day or two (We have all been to Paris)
3) Into Nice, 4-5 days there, then out of Marseille, 3 or so days there, using Marseille/Cassis as a base of operations to see that end
Thoughts from those that have been?

Highly encourage option 3.
We were there May/June of this year and it was fantastic. Flew into Nice and did 3 nights in Cap Ferrat. Hit Eze and Monaco one day, Antibes and Cannes another and a day in Nice.
Then 2 nights in Saint Paul de Vence followed by 3 nights in Saint Remy with day trips to Arles, Abbaye Senanque/Gordes/Roussillon and Avignon/Châteauneuf du Pape.
Finished up with 4 nights in Aix-en-Provence with day trips to Marseille and Cassis.
Took a few food tours, visited several wineries, museums, etc. It sounds like a lot, but had time to enjoy the hotels and relax at pools/spa.
Rented a car and had no problems except for one camera speeding ticket on the way to Marseille airport.
If you would like the complete itinerary, drop me a burner email and I'll send it. Or any questions about specific locations.

That's what I would like
I am not loving the flights home from Marseille at the moment however

Of those three options, I would pick #3.
8 days is a long time to spend in Nice.
Monte Carlo would also be a good base around there.
Be sure to go to Eze. That is a unique and picturesque hill town.
If you are looking for an alternative base near Marseilles, look into Aix en Provence. We have a river cruise booked for April that embarks in Provence and we are spending a few days in Aix first.

You could take the train from Marseille to Paris and fly out of there. It's a hair under 4 hours.

If you have to go to Paris to fly home, then option number 2 would be fine.
You can’t go wrong by choosing Paris.
I leave for there tomorrow.
