Sky diving advice

Looking to go sky diving for the first time soon when visiting California. For those that have done it before, is it worth it and would you do it again?

Make sure your insurance allows it. It’s one of those questions they ask when you’re buying it. I had an employee do it (tandem jump), but I thought she was crazy.

I really wanted to do it and I was going to do it in dubai... but my wife talked me out of it because she was pregnant.. my only advice is do it .

If they offer an option to buy video footage of your jump, do it. Probably be expensive but worth it

I would probably do it again if a bunch of people I knew went with me at the same time. It was a lot of fun and was such an adrenaline rush - I just get nervous easily and was scared shiteless all the way up to jumping out. As soon as I was out though it was one of the coolest experiences

Did it once . Freefall for 1.5 minutes at 130 mph is awesome . Once chute opens its like a carnival ride with a great view .

I did it once and highly recommend it. I never got afraid until I was in the plane. When they open up that door in the air it is some scary stuff. I've never had an adrenaline rush like that. I did it in Miami and had some awesome views.
I kind of mark it off as something I've done and don't need to do again. That being said if a group of friends/family invite me to I'd probably do it again.

Worth every penny. Did it last weekend.
The adrenaline from free falling from 10k feet can't be beat.
Pay for the video for your first time, you won't regret it.

Pack your own parachute so if it doesn’t open you have no one to blame but yourself

Worth doing tandem jump once. Gravity is strong - surprised me the speed of the initial fall. Noisy, then silence when chute opens.
However, unless you want to learn soloing (which takes time and money), not worth doing a second time.

I wished I would have paid for the video during my tandem jump.

Do you get the gforce/roller coaster stomach gut feeling the whole time during freefall or just during initial acceleration?

I would say during the initial acceleration before the drogue was deployed; My instructor decided to go crazy and we did quite a few back flips before deploying it. It's hard to compare skydiving to a rollercoaster because you're in a belly to earth position while on most coasters you're feet to earth position.

As a posthumous poster myself, you should go for it!

Amazing experience, GF gave me a tandem for my 60thm 5 years ago. From 13,000 feet the ground looks a long way away. First step out the door is like nothing else, indescribable
Have done twice since, I love it.

I knew a guy that was an instructor. The best place is in Lake Perris. About 1-1.5 hours east of L.A. (if you are going there).
I never did it myself but that is where people who know what they are doing are located from what I'm told.
