First time poster, long time reader of the Travel Board.
Headed to Sandals South Coast for a friends wedding in August. Has anyone of the travel board ever been? What to expect? What to do and what not to do? I am PADI Dive certified, so i do plan on taking advantage of the diving which is stated as Included? Has anyone had experience with the included diving at a Sandals resort? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't stayed there but I've been through and stopped in Whitehouse several times. You probably won't need to but if you choose it is safe to leave the resort. You won't be killed. That's about all I've got.

Went there for my Honeymoon about 10 years ago. I didn't dive but I would imagine that would be cool around there. Go to the YS Falls.

I did the Appleton Rum factory tour last year which was cool. It's about an hour from Sandals and 20 minutes from YS Falls.

YS falls was cool. We did the rum factory and it was ok. Did the snorkeling at the resort but not the diving

Appreciate the recs. Will look into YS Falls as well as the Rum Factory as that seems to be the only two recommendations.
Also a fellow Civil Dawg myself. Hailstate

A couple more South Coast ideas if you want to leave the resort for a day.
Pelican Bar is fun. Sandals might organize an excursion for you. I've been several times. We saw dolphins last year which was cool.

I've done the Black River trip several times. Great scenery and you'll see crocodiles

I'm headed to Jamaica this Sunday. Spending 3 nights in Negril and then 10 nights in Treasure Beach.

My wife and I honeymooned at Sandals Whitehouse. Whitehouse is a long sketchy ride on 2 lane mountain roads from the airport, but we chose it because it's one of the more secluded resorts which should cut down on the peddlers on the beach.
My wife and I both got scuba certified while we were there and made two dives every morning. We didn't do the full open water certification, so we could only go down to 60 ft or so, but all the reefs we dove were a short boat ride from the resort (5-10 minutes). This was nice because we could dive in the morning and be back at the resort around 10:30-11.
