San Diego Trip Mardi Gras 2027

Heading out to San Diego for a week in February next year and open to any suggestions of things to do or places to eat. It will be me the wife, and two boys (5 and 3). Staying in La Jolla and going to get a city pass for each of us to do LegoLand, Zoo, Midway but looking for other cool things to do that the boys will like.

Zoo is a neat experience, you can easily spend a day there plus the Balboa park area
Lego land was fun as well for that age
they also have a sea world
take them to Cabrillo National Monument along with the tide pools
the hiking trails at Torrey Pines have great views
visit Coronado and it's free to access the beach by the hotel

Anyone ever do a day trip to Disneyland from San Diego?

Thats too far. We staged from the Ritz in Laguna once and from Pasadena once.
Anaheim sucks for food, so we didnt mind the drive from those end points. However, San Diego is too far.
Try flying into John Wayne Airport and out of San Diego. It has worked well for us a couple times.

I was thinking about taking the train up and back since the boys are big into trains right now. Would be a long day but we theoretically could rest there and back and not white knuckle traffic lol

The bar from the original Top Gun, is a burger joint go there for lunch. Yes they have the jukebox.

I love San Diego. I like staying in La Jolla and walking my arse off around the area.
I’d have a place there or around Carmel if I was wealthy.
LaJolla to Disneyland (Anaheim) is 88 miles. On a Sunday morning you could get there quickly, the return trip might be fun.
