I have been to Costa Maya.
We toured the Chachoben Mayan Ruins which was interesting.

Other than that there is not much to Costa Maya. In fact it is not even a town but is the name of the port facility which is basically a shopping mall surrounding a big infinity swimming pool. .

There is nothing to do in Costa Maya. Stay on the ship. Get out in Cozumel instead and do an excursion, shop around or they have public access to the water right off the pier.

RC is building Perfect Day Mexico in Costa Maya. I think it’ll be open in 2027, and it’ll be modeled after Perfect Day CoCo Cay.

Oh yay. Another port stop where the cruise line keeps all of the money instead of local businesses.

I get your point, but if I’m correct the shopping and excursions will still be there if you choose that route. Since Perfect Day is private for Royal Caribbean cruisers, other ships would still be able to dock. Last time I was in port Carnival’s largest ship, Jubilee, was docked.

We've gone on that cruise a few times. 1st trip was the ruins which was a good time but being on a bus for ~3 hours is a total waste of time. The second time we ventured out and went to LINK which was a short bus ride. Definitely authentic from the beach to the resort and the food and drinks were awesome. Would definitely go back.

Do you remember roughly how long the ride was?

Saw this earlier in the week and never researched. Will dig deeper.

Their package includes pickup and drop off ( outside the terminal ) which was a short walk down the street to a van. The ride was about 25-30 minutes down a the beach road.

I use Toucan Tours off Trip Advisor. They gave us free beer the entire time and the tour group was really small, so we had a nice private tour of Chacchoben.

Also ask to stop at the pineapple town. The fresh mango and pineapple there are freakin amazing. They should have some that time of year.
