I booked a flight for $722 2 days ago. The price now is $682. Can I cancel, get an credit, then turn around and rebook the same flight with Delta?
Do seats release and you can rebook them?

Seems like I can, but never done it before.

Also, it looks like the refund goes to each person's account, if I do that and rebook for both of us, can I use her credit, or would she have to book separately?

For a 40$ fare diff I prob wouldn’t mess with it unless I’d booked like 8 ppl but I’m pretty sure you can if you’re up for it. Get into the airlines app and go to the cancel flight option and see what it says before you go through with it. It def wouldn’t be worth calling in over and being on hold for a half hour+

Did you try turning off and back on again?

I would book the new flight before canceling what you have.

On delta, you used to be able to do this on the app. Within the last 2 or 3 months, they made it so you can't change to the same flight. So now you need to call in or have them do it via the messaging app. You could also cancel and rebook but I'd call when delta isn't very crowded

What does it mean to reboot a flight?

So, it turns out I decided to chat with them instead, and was able to rebook same flight/same seats and saved $140 ($70/pp). Got an ecredit or the difference. I was hoping maybe to use it for a seat upgrade, but they don't allow that, so it will be credit for another flight. Thanks for the advice.

I recently did this on Southwest for a trip to Denver. The cost per ticket changed about $150 each and with 4 tickets it was a good savings. Not sure how the other airlines handle it but SW makes it pretty easy to do.
