inb4, "don't" - yes, I am aware of this board's general disdain for California but, with genuine curiosity, what are some of the safer/residential neighborhoods in the LA metro area?

My job will be based in Glendale but to be totally honestly I don't have much of an opinion on the area so interested to get some thoughts.

Thank you!!

I mean, the first thing you have to tell us is how much you have to spend on rent/purchasing a home.

The second thing you have to tell us is what type of commute are you cool with (whenever commutes happen again).

Friend,

LA is an abbreviation for Louisiana. Especially when you are on a board focused on Louisiana, you should be pay particular attention to use of this abbreviation. Los Angeles is L.A.

As for the answer, we have cousins who live in Malibu and it seems quite a safe area, so long as you avoid the fires that often ravage the area in late summer and fall. The commute to downtown from Malibu can be quite taxing, however.

Yours,

I have no clue what the commute would be like to Glendale, but the Pomona, Claremont, Upland areas actually have some charm and distinctive feel, unlike so much of the sprawl.

Glendale is supposed to be a decent area. Have you looked there?

Silver Lake is really nice if you can afford it. North Hollywood is also really nice.

those are cool little cities, but they're like 40 miles from glendale.

glendale, pasadena, or northridge wouldn't be bad options.

I have family in Burbank, just next to Glendale. Glendale itself is ok. Burbank is nicer and safer, and therefore a bit more expensive than Glendale. Look in Burbank near the foothills and you'll have some cool trails to hike.
