I will be traveling with a larger group (12 people) and wondering what is best way to see the races. I see general admission, box seats and even some restaurants that it looks like you can reserve entire tables at. Wondering what is best way to do it from anyone whose experienced it. And the fact that we’ll be in a bigger group may decide how best to experience it. Thanks for any info here. This will be for the Saturday of LSU game for what it’s worth. And possibly the Sunday after too depending on how much we like it.

A couple of years ago we were doing the bourbon trail in Louisville and our driver told us to find a way to get to Keeneland for opening day. We tried to get in the grandstand, and had on button up collar shirts and jeans. The lady working the ticket booth said “honey, there is no way I can let you in the grandstand dressed like that. Go to general admission, you will have a great time” and we did. I would assume opening day is busier than other days but it was incredible and plenty of people in general admission dresses to the 9s just like you see dressed for the derby. We had a blast and I highly recommend the trip

We played beer pong in the Keeneland parking lot with a local fella who had a glass eye and used that motherfricker to take a shot.

All I got

Thank you. And that happens to be opening day this year too so I’m sure it will be busy. General admission seems easiest and being that it’s LSU game day I don’t plan on dressing up all that much. Just want to confirm that it was a good experience. I like the idea of having a designated seat but I’m prob overthinking it. Will prob be more like a tailgate and I don’t ever sit at those. Can maybe do dressy Sunday if we like it enough to go back. Thanks again for info

Also do they have restaurants to eat at in general admission? Or is it all a concession/food truck type set up?

There is alcohol and food booths all over. Think of being in a professional sports stadium. We were able to get damn close to the start and finish line

I thought Opening Day was Friday, October 8, the day before the LSU football game.

You want to be in GenPop.

I get box tickets from family and go sit downstairs.

Someone tell me how it's pronounced.

Is it KEEEN-land or KEENY-land?
