Beautiful beaches, beautiful water, and fricking seaweed everywhere. Several of the locals said it will hang around until after September.

Wow. I just flew out of PUJ tonight after a stay at the Hilton La Romana Resort, which is about an hour west of Punta Cana. The beach there was beautiful and awesome and zero seaweed.

Unfortunately a problem in a lot of places including Cancun area. Really hope they find a solution other than scooping it every morning because it's a huge eyesore.

Can you not just roll it up and smoke it?

I woke up early one morning and they were scooping it in huge dump trucks. Four hours later you could not even tell as there was even more seaweed piling up.

Climate change is causing bigger blooms of sargassum. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

I’m at 33000 feet cruising over the Atlantic about halfway between JFK and Punta Cana. I’m pumped.

It will get a lot worse. That was probably right after they loaded up the dump truck.

It’s about the same in the afternoon. They have a barrier that stops most of it. We spend most of our day at the pool anyway.

Dang we were getting away from Cancun this year because of the seaweed. Heading to DR at the end of the month, hoping to get a lucky break from the seaweed a few days

I really think that it's about the direction that the hotel's beach faces, because that determines whether the current washes seaweed up. Like I said, I left the Hilton La Romana Resort in the the DR on Saturday, and the beach was beautiful with absolutely zero seaweed.
