Any in particular you'd recommend?
Gaiole in Chianti and Radda in Chianti. Two picturesque small Tuscan communities.

So I'll be the contrarian here and put in a good word for Naples. Yeah, it is probably the worst Italian major metro, but I enjoyed my time there ~6 years ago. For one, I found it to be a solid base of operations for exploring Southern Italy - Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Capri, etc. Second, the food is incredible. Best pizza in the universe, Buffalo Mozzarella, and some terrific Campania wines (I love Taurasi). Third, there are some good sites to see in Naples itself. The archeology museum has a ton of Pompeii artifacts, including the Alexander Mosaic. The Cathedral is nice and is built around the remains of a really early Church (pretty common in Europe generally and Italy specifically but still cool to see). Finally, while the city is kinda dirty and there are a lot of African migrants running around, I never felt unsafe (even late at night) and the locals were pretty friendly.
I definitely wouldn't prioritize Naples over Florence and Rome, but I wouldn't completely write it off either.

Orvieto, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena (not small but worthy), Chianti, San Gimignano
I've been to all. I would recommend all.

I would spent more days in Florence and less days in Positano. Positano is extremely beautiful (and expensive), and there is some stuff to do on the Coast...but 6 nights seems like a lot for Positano.
I love Positano, but I mostly agree with this. If hanging on the med is primary over traveling and sightseeing than a week isn’t too long.

Bookmarking for a similar trip!

Have you looked at actual Amalfi town itself? Very centrally located.
Just spent a month in Italy and about 6 days of it was based out of Amalfi town. Great location, has a really nice town square. Positano is nice, but honestly a day trip is all that’s necessary.

I wanted to stay in Amalfi. Accommodations are fewer and not much cheaper (if at all ) from Positano but from the loads of research I’ve done I like the looks of it better for a base. Mrs jkyle is hung TF up on Positano though so Positano it is. :sigh:

I’d reconsider air Canada. I flew them once to Rome in 2017 (I think a 767), and it was the oldest piece of crap I’ve been on in two decades, and I flew a lot of MD-80s. They had the surliest FAs I’ve ever encountered. Toronto was taken off of my possible connections for good.
Have you considered flying from DFW to IAH and then to FRA? I’ve taken Houston to Frankfurt a ton, and it’s reliably on time. Service is great if you are a bit chubby and get a gay FA, otherwise standard European. The airport is the worst place in the first world for finding free water, though. Be warned that the transition between the Z gates and wherever your connection is leaving from can be very long. Up, down, up, train, down, up, down, etc.
Make sure to take in the scenery; Lufthansa parks almost all of their 747-800 and A380s in one “alley” and it’s a great gallery of elephants.

Good description. It’s a lot of walking for sure at FRA.

I’m flying there Dfw to FRA operated by Lufthansa. It’s the return flight that’s operated by Air Canada that’s laying over in Montreal. I booked basic economy bc I’m a cheap arse especially when it comes to booking 4 international flights. Going out of Houston was about 250-300$pp more which I found weird considering they’re the United hub. It was like 1300 pp United/Lufthansas outta Dfw but like 1600ish outta IAH.
