They are all pretty much the same. We stayed at one 2 spring breaks ago and it was awesome. We booked it the night before we left to go. Got a deal on it. There is no lack of stuff to do. Go to the park and check out the various well publicized stops. Go to Gatlinburg and hang out for the day. There are endless things to do on a weeklong trip. Also endless tourist traps to avoid like the plague. When I was a kid we went and Ober Gatlingburg was cool. We went this last time and it was terrible. They haven’t changed it in 30 years. Smokey Mountain National Park is beautiful though. Cades Cove was awesome to visit again also.

shite. I didn't think about that being there. Is that going on around there somehwere?
We do play rec ball.
3 kids 13,11, and 8 with a small dog in tow.
I'm not to interested in all the tourist crap. Go and visit some things sure but if I'm driving 14 hours I'd like to relax.
Alcohol isn't a make or break for me.
Thanks

Spend time in the Smokies. Don't waste it on the junk shops.

VRBO is where it’s at. Our family loves Pigeon Forge. The shows are great, the atmosphere is great and you can also drive over to Gatlinburg for a few hours.

We go because we love that part of the Smokies, but if you aren’t interested in the “tourist” crap there are better places to go than Pigeon Forge.
I’m not saying that to shite on your plans, only that you will not be able to get away from the tourist crap unless you plan to spend all your time in the park. You will still have to drive through all of the craziness though.

quote:That’s where I’d recommend also. We’ve stayed in Townsend for a Clan Misanthrope family vacation and will do so again. Had cabins on the river. Nice place. Convenient to a lot of places. Still use a couple of coffee mugs we got from the restaurant we ate breakfast at all the time.
There is where I typically stay.
Not as touristy. So might not be what you’re looking for. Closer to Cades Cove.

Was going to say the same thing. Pigeon Forge is 100% about tourist crap, it's essentially Panama City Beach, but in the mountains. (not that there's anything wrong with that, but you should know it's mostly go-kart tracks and pancake shops).
If you just want a mountain cabin, there are so many towns in North Georgia, NC, and in TN where you can have your pick. For $300/night, you can get a nice cabin. Where are you driving from? What's your goal?
Some GA state parks have cabins for rent for half that price, with a ton to see and do. Just food for thought.

If you are going through Knoxville @ lunch or dinner time, I would plan on eating at Litton’s Market Restaurant & Bakery. Save room for dessert.

When do you plan to visit? Plenty to do over in GRSMNP for outdoor activities.

Go to Bass Pro and sign up for the Blue-Green Timeshare presentation package then pick Pigeon Forge.
Pick the cabins for accommodations, NOT their resort. They will put you up at Eagles Ridge or similar which will be nice. Take the option to extend your 3 night package.
Get the 90 minutes timeshare presentation over with asap. Don’t talk. Decline annd GTFO.
Enjoy your cheap vacation.

Check out Wears Valley as well. I’ve stayed there and it’s nice. Not as much traffic, short drive to PV and G’burg
Yep, where we stay. 10 minutes to the strip, but out and quiet and peaceful. Great location.

Lake charles.
Goal is a vacation. Something different than a beach resort.
Kids was to explore. Wife wants to go to a cabin. I'm just after a vacation away from work. I'm easy. Don't care where I go.
Looking at all the posts I'm beginning to wonder if this should be for next year and actually do some planning. We've been so bust with shutdowns at work and baseball I'm winging it.
Looks too.much to wing and I don't want to waste a bunch of cash on a wing.
