I know these resorts have been discussed but curious on anyone’s input just comparing these two resorts. Trip is for friends 50th birthday with 5 couples. Like to have a good time but not get rowdy.

Gal whose birthday it is wants to go to Unico...never been, wife and I have been to excellence riviera couple times and love it. Clean, great service, excellent food and quality booze (or they put it in the nicer liquor bottles at least haha)

Anyways.....Unico cost about ~40% more.....has anyone been to both of these places to give a comparison? Input on other resorts is great but sounds like she is set on Unico and I can only compare to the excellence based off experience.

We are ok with the added cost I guess....I am just one that prefers to spend my money, especially on vacation, on what I know will be a slam dunk trip at a good price ($2400 vs $1700 for 5 nights)

I’ve never been to Unico so I probably won’t be much help, but I’ve been to both of the Excellence resorts in Mexico and have never had a single complaint. As you said, everything is first class. I can’t see another similar resort being worth 40% more, but again I can’t personally compare them. All that said, if birthday girl is set on Unico then I bet I know where y’all end up going

I’ve been to both and UNICO was such a disappointment to me and my wife. It’s basically a resort for Cali bros. It’s modern but has no charm of being in Mexico. With you being over 50, you will hate it. They make it sound like they have the best food in the world and me and many other couples agreed the food was all presentation to look good but tasted bland. The beach is pretty good but the beach service was non existence and they literally had zero night shows. Excellence usually has a show every night. We are headed to ERC may 1st

Thanks for input....wife and I were just looking at pics online of Unico and got the same vib that you mentioned being Cali bros haha.

With that said, birthday girl and husband are little older than most everyone else, we are mid 30’s.....so younger adult crowd isn’t terrible....but I prefer to not hang around a bunch of Cali douche bags if that is predominately who goes there.

I think birthday girl likes the boujie look of Unico

$1700 for a 2 person five night stay at all inclusive excellence resort is a damn good deal IMHO.

Went to Unico recently. It was solid, but not on the level of our stay at the Excellence in Punta Cana. We only chose Unico because we got a really good deal on it.

Never been to Unico but have stayed at the Ecellelance and Secrets in Cancun. Both were great.

I’m not super well versed in all inclusives to compare but I just came back from Unico two weeks ago. Scored a deal during COVID that was 1700 for 5 nights.

We had a great time, thought the food was great and service was great around pool. Kinda slow on the beach but overall I cannot complain at all. Was a spectacular 5 days..

Edit to say I’m also mid 30’s.
