Been looking at cruises lately and wanted to see if any of y'all have been on one of these monsters? Is it worth going on or should I settle for the ones in Galveston/New Orleans?

To me a lot of it is just the engineering feat of having a virtual city on the water. You are just in awe merely being on the ship. They have separate parts of the ships with different atmospheres due to the "neighborhood" format, e.g. the Central Park area, Promenade, Boardwalk. But more specific, the shows are pretty good, especially the water amphitheater. I'd recommend the specialty restaurants a couple of the nights; you pay extra per head for all you can eat, but it's exceptional dining.

eta. Harsh but true, but you also have a more tolerable clientele on the ship with you than ships that may be cheaper, which is HUGE when you're on a vessel with no escape.

Everything this guy said. Took the entire family on Oasis of the Seas last year to Haiti, Cozumel, and Jamaica. The ship is amazing.

I cannot get excited for a cruise, I think it's my time in the Navy that did it to me.

I was on the Allure for one of its first sailings. The ship is unbelievable. Its hard to imagine how large it is until you are on it. Absolutely worth the trip over to FL. What sets it apart is that it basically split the older ships down the middle and added an entire boat sandwiched between. There are balcony rooms everywhere.

My favorite part was even though there were thousands of people on the boat, they had the same if not better/faster service than the smaller boats.

I had a tough time decided between an Oasis class and the new Norwegian Escape when I booked my cruise for this November. I went with the NCL Escape only because my boss has been on it and said it was awesome. Oasis is on the to-do list soon though.

I wouldn't go to Fla for a Western Caribbean cruise...For that itinerary drive to Galveston and sail on the Liberty of the Seas. Gorgeous ship and fairly close in size to Allure/Oasis, etc. Shorter drive, cheaper and same itinerary. I believe the Liberty is only one deck less and about 80' shorter than Oasis but still has ice skating, flowrider, two new adult water slides on the back, new splash pad zone for kids, etc.

Magnificent ship.

I went on the Oasis 2 times last year..They are very nice ships but I enjoyed Norwegian Getaway and Escape better. I've been on 35 cruises and I feel Royal's food is on par with Carnival as being the worst. I know food is subjective but it's really gone down hill on Royal since I first cruised with them. Plus if you book NCL you get 2 free perks like free beverage package and free speciality dining.

I agree with this guy. I would say Royal is my least favorite of the 4 lines I have been on (Royal, Carnival, Norwegian, and Celebrity). Having said that, Oasis class is a whole different breed of ships, due to it's massive size and extensive options. I think it's definitely worth it, but I think you will find better deals on other lines.

NCL is my favorite as of right now, and as mentioned, you can book nearly any cruise with them right now, and receive free promotions. 1-4 promotions depending on which stateroom you book. The best option is obviously the UBP(Unlimited Beverage Package). 7 days of not having to look at your bar bill is amazing.

I'm on the NCL Escape in June. Unlimited Beverage Package and 4 specialty dining experiences.

Chose the Escape based entirely on the beer available on board. District Brewhouse for the win.

I have no desire to go on a cruise that has a mall in it and holds THAT many people. Plus, those have about 100 pay restaurants and what not. What is the point of being on a cruise if everything I see cost extra? I like having everything included or paid for when I get on board. I know some cruises offer dining packages but no way in hell am I adding on that much to my cruise bill to eat when they already have tons of food included in the base price.
