Someone tell me about the Bentonville area of Northwest Arkansas. I hear it is very nice with a lot of good restaurants, outdoor activities, etc. Whatcha got?

Great cycling destination. Lots of accessible trails so it’s a great place for even new riders.

Restaurants are good. Museums are good. Night life is kind of meh. Fayetteville is more lively at night but it’s a college town.

How many in your family and what ages?

Here’s a pretty good/entertaining video of a family visiting to ride.

Mountain biking is becoming world class up in that part of Arky. Trail maintenance and design is phenomenal, plus there are endless miles to ride.

We are headed to Springdale this weekend to see family and rented a house outside Springdale. Do you recommend hikes in Bentonville? Any particular restaurants?

If you’re in Springdale, check out Fitzgerald Mountain at Bayyari Park. Cooler hiking than most of Bentonville. Coyote Cave trail is great. Mt. Kessler in Fayetteville is the same. Great hiking. If you go to Bentonville, I’d go on up to Bella Vista and hike Tanyard Creek.

All my favorite restaurants are in Fayetteville. If you don’t mind that, look into Herman’s, Hugo’s, and Green Submarine makes the best sandwich around. I’d suggest the Don Mega, toasted. Hammontrees is a cool spot just off Dickson, and Theos is a good spot. Catfish Hole is good and this will sound awkward, but they’ve got the best NY Strip in NWA.

Bumping this thread bc we are thinking of a Labor Day road trip and don’t want to spend it sitting in traffic. From SE LA, seems like Bentonville AR offers decent diversions. Anyone got some B’ville area tips for me? Esp any cool hotel or rental info. TIA.

Avoid Wedington Drive in Fayetteville like the plague then.

Probably find some nice rentals on Beaver Lake. Inn at the Mill in Johnson is a nice hotel that’s just south of Springdale, though a few years ago they shut the restaurant down. Not to sure on any “cool” hotels in Bentonville.

Normal Bentonville attractions for a first timer would be 5 and dime store(museum), Crystal Bridges, Amazeum(if you’ve got kids). Also can head to Rogers to the Daisy BB Gun Museum(NWA is also headquarters of Daisy Outdoor). Just don’t shoot your eye out.

Is Eureka Springs worth a look? Seems quaint, but unsure if I should stay on Beaver Lake or in Eureka Springs.

Depending on when you’re there Eureka can be quaint, trashy, full of motorcycles. I think it’s a good diversion, not a destination.

Stay:
-On Beaver
-Air B&B in Bentonville (Close to Downtown)
-21C Museum Hotel

Eureka springs is better when the hippies are in town. Try to avoid any biker weekends
