Canada side is better. I wouldn't want to spend terribly long there.

Ride the boat.

Canada side. No need to stay more than a night. You will appreciate the time there and the beauty of it but only do the boat ride and if you are able, do the helicopter ride, but none of the other "stuff". It's about the most cheesy, touristy area you'll find. Almost kinda sad how cheesy it is...we planned 2 nights there on a road trip and cut that short.

1) stay in Canada
2) ride "maid of the mist"
3) only spend 24 hours or less there

We stayed a couple nights at the Marriott that is right over horseshoe falls. Enjoyed the ride, there's some scenic walks. We rode the old gondola over the gorge and drove to Toronto for a Blue Jay's game to watch Gauzman make his MLB debut with Baltimore.

It's a pretty part of the country. They have fireworks some nights. There are vineyards north of the Falls. It's all about what you enjoy.

It's neat to see but like other said, you only need one day.
Canada side is better views for sure.

Canada side definitely. You gotta ride the boat. The "behind the falls" tour was worth it but might be less impressive if you do it after the boat ride. Do a liesurely walk from the falls and along the Niagra river and marvel at the hordes asian tourists. Everything else I would skip.

Hotel with best view is Embassy Suites on Canada side. But it's pricey and the breakfast buffet was crowded and inedible with powdered eggs and fake OJ. The big casino also has rooms with a great view.

This.

The Canadians did it so much better. Buy the tour package from the visitor center. ( Journey behind the falls, rapids & Hornblower (former maiden of the mist). It also includes the bus.

Haven't been there in years, but "Google" Niagara on the Lake. It's a small town with vineyards in the area as well as other touristy places.
Most everything around the Falls is geared to tourism.
