Family going to Chicago in early June. 13/11 year old kids. Looking for good restaurant recommendations and other activities.
Any help appreciated and thanks.
P.S. Huge thanks to Chicken for creating this board. The O-T sucks for questions like this.

The Girl and the Goat was the greatest meal I've ever had in my life. Not exaggerating.

I keep hearing that too. They're booked solid unfortunately.

Architectural boat tour and a cub game

Hey so if you're looking for something like Girl & the Goat, there is a place called Boka that is not only incredible and Michelin starred, but I think run by some of the same people as Girl & Goat. Might be a little more upscale than what you're looking for, but I'd recommend it if you want some world class food.
Also a place there called Longman & Eagle which I haven't personally been to but is michelin starred and I think more on the casual side.

The pizza is the world's greatest.

Uno's pizza. Its the original deep dish and its a great spot to bring the kids.

This or Lou Malnotti's all the way.
People think eating at Uno's in Chicago is equivalent to eating at Sbarro's in NYC, but that's not the case. Uno's is legit. Very legit.

That doesn't surprise me. We went in December (not exactly a popular time for tourism), and two weeks out we were lucky to get a 10:30 reservation.
Another amazing restaurant (though not GATG level) is Perrenial Virant. It's in the Lincoln Hotel. Then go for a drink at the bar on the roof of the hotel. Great views.

Your kids may like checking out Grant Park to walk around in as well. Great views of the skyline.
Cubs game would be neat too.

I'll give another vote to Lou malnati's as the best pizza (out of the few I've tried). Portillos was great also, although I liked the hot dogs way better than beef sandwich

Tastes like any other hot dog joint in America. I truly believe Portillos greatness is a placebo effect and everyone pretends it's the best thing on earth because it's the socially acceptable thing to do.

Lincoln Park Zoo is great. Limit yourself to the primate and lion/tiger exhibits if you are short on time. Top notch. Also, the Untouchables gangster tour is really fun. The Frank Lloyd Wright tour is good also.

For Girl and the Goat, did you check Open Table or did you actually call the restaurant? I'm going there next month when the in laws come to town, open table told me they were booked solid, but when I called they were able to get me in at 630 on a Friday night.
Also, Stephanie Izard (owner/chef of GATG) just opened a new restaurant last month called Duck Duck Goat. It's a hot reservation for sure, but worth calling to see if you can get in. I haven't been yet but it's getting rave reviews of course.
Other things:
Science and Industry Museum is great for kids, but get there when they open. You're coming in peak tourist season, lines are gonna get real ridic real quick.
CAF architecture river cruise is a must do.
If you truly feel the urge to get a deep dish, go to Pequods.
The signature lounge on the 96th floor of the hancock has phenomenal views, and they actually allow kids in there till about 7pm. Personally I recommend this over the Sears tower because you can get a view AND a drink and the lines at the Hancock are always shorter than Sears.
Wrigley Field
Buckingham Fountain/the bean/Millennium Park

How do you like living in Chicago?
When we were there in December, I thought "man this is a really cool city and I bet it's a blast to live here, but I've found my threshold for cold weather, and it's Boston."
I don't know how you survive those winters in Chicago. It's brutal enough here.

I like it a lot, it's a great city and it has exceeded my expectations for the most part. That being said, the winters totally suck and there's no way I'll ever get used to them. You just kind of suck it up and DWI (because there's really no other choice).
TL;DR- lots of indoors time + wine during the cold months.

Since you have two kids I would do places like The Purple Pig, Eataly, Pequod's Pizza, etc.
Definitely do:
The architecture tour
The Field Museum. Your kids will probably love that with the dinosaur bones and what not.

I'll bet y'all didn't know that Chicago was the home of the original Playboy Mansion. I seen it.
