Strangest Uber Experience - what's yours?
Posted by drobis1 on 8/17/16 at 10:36 pm
Today I caught an uber ride from downtown Houston to Westchase, about a 20 minute ride. I get in and the driver is listening to a motivational speaker, which was weird. It got really strange when the same 5 minute speech played on a loop 3 more times during that ride. My favorite piece of the speech was "unleash the beast inside of you".
90% of the uber drivers are pretty good, but there's always a few outliers.
Whatchya got?

We are going for 8-10 nights.
For Maui:
Where did you stay? What were the best activities? Best food experiences?

We are active, but like diversity - so beach, snorkeling, hiking, eating, waterfalls, ziplining, horseback riding, helicopter rides - all things we would like.
I need some Hawaii travel advice
Posted by drobis1 on 8/4/16 at 9:34 am
We are planning to go to Hawaii next June or July. My wife, 2 kids (15 & 13), and myself.
1. Debating which island - Big Island or Maui (or maybe I can be convinced to go to another one)
2. Best place to stay? - we would like something oceanfront, with access to beaches/snorkeling, with a full kitchen - staying for around 10 days.
I would appreciate any advice as I have never been to Hawaii. Thanks in advance to the TB and thanks to Chicken for creating this board so I don't have to deal with the OT cesspool anymore.

Not sure he'd say the same thing in 2016, but still a great quote.

re: LaGuardia to Midtown Manhattan

There is a fairly new MTA bus service that picks up at all terminals.
Buy your subway/bus passes at the kiosk, get on the Q70 bus, get off at the Roosevelt subway station, take whichever train from there into Manhattan.
It's probably faster and basically free if you'll be using the subway all week anyway. I hate taking cars in NYC - underground is almost always faster.

Another cheap and easy option is to take the Q70 bus from LGA to the Roosevelt subway station in Queens. You can buy your subway/bus pass right there at the terminal. I did this two weeks ago and highly recommend. You have access to the E,F,M, & R routes there.

Anyone else notice this? Also, I'm just learning that he is the son of Kim Mulkey and that Herman Johnson is the largest baby ever born in Louisiana.

For Girl and the Goat, did you check Open Table or did you actually call the restaurant? I'm going there next month when the in laws come to town, open table told me they were booked solid, but when I called they were able to get me in at 630 on a Friday night.
Thanks for that recommendation. I will try calling. Thanks for all of the other insight.

I keep hearing that too. They're booked solid unfortunately.

Family going to Chicago in early June. 13/11 year old kids. Looking for good restaurant recommendations and other activities.
Any help appreciated and thanks.
P.S. Huge thanks to Chicken for creating this board. The O-T sucks for questions like this.

Completely agree. Mandeville Seafood seems to skip the cleaning step which is so lazy. I'd say Pat's.

Chicago venue pass. Going to see Argentina on June 10 then probably the semi there. My oldest daughters' birthday is that day and watching Messi live is a dream of hers.
