Nashville is great. But unless you're visiting friends who live there, or you're in a bachelorette party hitting up Broadway, it's not the greatest city in the world to vacation in.

I would do a few days in Nashville, 2 or 3 in the Smokie's and then 1 night (2 days) in Chattanooga for Ruby Falls, Rock City and Lookout Mountain and then head back to Nashville.

Skip Gatlinburg all together. It's a complete shitshow.

Go spend 3-4 days in Nashville. And from a native, don't think about Hendersonville/Gallatin unless you have a boat (and there's better lakes all across the mid state). Avoid the tourist crap on lower Broad and the Gaylord/Opry Mills compound like the plague.

Go spend a couple of days at Blackberry Farms.

Go spend a couple of days in Chattanooga.

/end of trip

You must hate fun things or you got roped into the tourist trap that is lower Broad. There's so much more to the city and it's obvious you didn't see much else.

Honestly it depends on what you want to do. If you love Gatlinburg, then obviously Gatlinburg. Just mountains hit up Townsend. Nashville has the best food scene, Knoxville and Asheville both have great breweries, don't know enough about Chattanooga to recommend it. If you like mountains and have the cash then you can't beat Blackberry Farms.

Nashville is a great city, but its better if you live here imo. As a local, there is always great stuff to do from sports to music to drinking to just experiencing the different neighborhoods that surround the city.

Yeah, the zoo isnt great. Ive been once when it wasnt brew in the zoo, and to me, just being able to get in an enclosed area and pet kangaroos is worth it.
