Apologies if this has been asked on this board, but the wife and I are headed to Nashville for 4 days for a conference for her job/birthday. Which means I’ll get to play hooky around the city for a couple days.
So far we’ve got the basics: tickets to grand ole Opry, tour of the Opry house and Ryman, Country Music Hall of Fame, dinner for my wife’s birthday at Assembly Food Hall, going to make a quick pass through the Vanderbilt campus. Plus I’m gonna hit the Johnny Cash museum and Prince’s hot chicken.
I’ve basically got one whole free day to fill, so I was mulling between Hermitage (Andrew Jackson’s home) or just stroll down broadway and walk into any place that looks interesting.
But I wanted to see if there’s any other Cant Miss things before I book anything else.
Any ideas?

The Hermitage is a good visit if you’re into history and agriculture. There is some AC in the house, but you will spend considerable time outdoors and unshaded if you walk out to the out buildings, old slave cabins, etc. Prepare accordingly.
You can easily do that and have plenty of time to stroll Broadway in your free day. If the Broadway joints are packed, walk to nearby Printers Alley. Plenty of live music, no cover, and way less crowded.
We did the guided hop on/off bus tour and enjoyed it. Got to see lots of parts of town that we’d never make it to on our own with the time we had. I think the whole loop took about 2 hours or less.

The RCA Lot B tour at that starts at the Country Music Hall of Fame was about an hour and worth the money.

Ryman, Robert’s Western World, Loveless Cafe. Skip the whole hot chicken thing.

I’d get there early or mid day to Prince’s if you are going to the original. Stood in line for nearly two hours between 11:30 and 1:30.
