Looking for Weekend Trip ideas, driving distance from BR for late October

Looking for a long weekend trip, not wanting to spend more than 4-8 hours driving from Baton Rouge. I was thinking a lake cabin might be nice. It will probably be a little cold for beach weather but a room with a view on the Alabalma/Florida gulf coast could work too. It'd also be nice if it wasn't too isolated and there were worthwhile things to see nearby. If I were still in the ATL I'd be thinking mountain cabin with day trips to some of the smaller touristy town like Helen, GA. Anything like that along the gulf coast or East Texas that Harvey or Irma won't have messed up?
