Heading out to Lisbon for 5 days and Nice for 6 days afterwards.
Any must does or must eats/ drinks?
I’ve got a pretty solid plan in place but I also like ditching plans and wondering around until I’m lost.

As far as Lisbon goes
- make the day trip out to Sintra to see Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, and Quinta da Regaleira. We ate at Tasca Saloia right across from the National Palace. The pork cheeks was one of the best things i ate during my 2 week trip in Portugal/Spain. They were in a gravy and they were super tender and flavorful, almost melted in your mouth.
- do a guided food tour. there's so many different cultures in Lisbon and you'll get to experience a lot more hole in the wall places that are very authentic. Recommend doing it first day or two you are there, and then you'll get an idea of what type of places you want to eat at the rest of your trip. The African cuisine there is actually really good. The one we did we ate at i think 5 or 6 places. had a beer or wine at each one and you'll definitely be full when you're done. We booked through TripAdvisor - Undiscovered Lisbon Food & Wine Tour with Eating Europe.
-do not wait or pay for the fancy elevator to go to the top. You can walk up there for free and whenever you want. The line to wait for the elevator is usually ridiculous.

This has become one of our goto moves when visiting a new location where we're unfamiliar with the food. We did one in Nice as well, and it was fantastic. Went through the Farmer's Market, with our guide procuring us samples of all kinds of things and assembling little bites for us. Then went to a few of her favorite cheese, wine, socca and gelateria locations. The guide also offered to host us at her house outside of town in the mountains because a music festival was going on (we weren't able to do that because we were switching locations). It's just a really nice way to get more familiar with the culture and the food. Did the same in Oaxaca City, which was even more "useful" as so much of the food there can be intimidating.

Lisbon- Jeronimas Monastery is absolutely beautiful, and you can see Vasco de Gama's body

Make sure you visit the bar at The Ivens hotel in Lisbon. Also the Time Out food hall.

Even though it is pricey and pretentious, you should stop at The Negresco in Nice and have a drink at one of its bars.
