I typically fly AA and try to avoid LHR altogether but I’m stuck connecting their Saturday. I’ll be taking BA and have a 65 minute connection.

Any chance in hell I make it? Luckily I’ll be coming from PHL so I’ll be landing st 6:30am local time so should be able to get a later flight if needed.

Hated connecting in LHR like the plague. Different terminals if AA to BA (think it was T5 to T3), about 10 escalators, long security lines, and always flight delays. You can make it if you are quick off your inbound and come into T5/go out of T5

Yeah I hate LHR. I will be in and out on BA so I will be at T5 both ways. I looked up the flight and it usually lands about 30 minutes early IF it doesn't leave 30 minutes late.

Enjoy the 747, it's unfortunate those are going away soon. Honestly I'd just expect to miss the flight and if you see you're early, hustle through LHR and make the original flight. They have re-booking agents right before you head through security at T5 so just stop by there if you're running a bit late and they'll sort you out

Thanks Cuse, that is actually why I chose this route. 50% of the time I go through DFW/CLT and 50% I go direct from MSY. I figured with the 747 on the way out I would switch this trip up and get a flight on that and the A380 through MIA on the way back.

Sweet ride, one of the Fütettes will be on one in about 4 hours.

I never minded LHR but I’ve not ever been in a connection bind there.

Good luck OP.

You'll have to go through a passport/boarding pass scan desk then queue for security. It just depends on how long the lines are. If you're on time and the lines aren't too long, it's certainly doable.

Update:

My flight was 3 hours late leaving PHL due to a long line to de-ice the aircraft. We did shave off some time in the air (5 hours instead of 7) but I did miss my connection to Billund. Then things got really bad. London got 13 inches of snow and they shutdown LHR. I ended up getting a flight the next day to Copenhagen but it was a miserable experience. There where thousands of people in line to get rebooked a BA said they would only do it over the phone. It was pandemonium.

Jesus...that sounds terrible. I didn't even know london gets snow, let alone 13 inches? Why couls they only rebook over the phone? Sounds like some lazy agents who didn't feel like working.

It was absolute chaos. Imagine 10k people stranded. Every single person was trying to get rebooked/get their bag/get a hotel. BA just sent people home.

But wait, it gets better. When you called the number it would say “due to increased calls we can’t answer you, call back later” and hang up! My auto-rebook has me flying in on Thursday (screw that). So I bough at £600 one way business ticket to CPH. I then had BA refund me for it.

At least you got in business class for the one flight plus a refund. Are you eligible for the european $$$ for flight delays? I know they don't normally cover weather but over 13 hr delay sounds like it would be. Also please tell me you don't have to go through lhr on your way home

Yeah I guess they have “travelers rights” and it emails you at 2/5/12 hours telling you what you can receive. They are covering hotel/taxi/food but my company would have covered anyway.

And I actually go through LHR twice before I got home ha. I fly CPH-DUS-LHR tomorrow and then LHR-MSY Saturday.

Best of luck with your travels, at least SAS is an awesome airline out of CPH. Plus I love Copenhagen, probably my favorite EU city

Yikes. I landed at LHR the day before the snow. I was surprised at how bad it shut the city down. Getting a train to the midlands region was a mess as well. Reminded me of when it snows in the south.

Yeah I really like SAS. I actually took BA LHR-CPH but I really love the city. I have an office in Kolding which is about an hour south of Billund (the HQ of LEGO). I’m flying right now (well in a few minutes) to DUS from BLL (Billund to Dusseldorf) on Sun Air Scandinavia which is a BA subsidiary on a freaking FRJ. Then I’ll be back on BA from DUS-LHR.
