Heading to Lexington. Any recommendations? Food, distilleries, site seeing, strip clubs, bars etc.
I will have a car.

If you’re trying to do a bourbon trail for the distilleries, you’re too late. Those things are booked up months in advance. We’re going, we booked ours six months ago.

Yeah learned that the hard way. Plan is to drive to some of the big ones and go to their tasting rooms/bars and walk around if that options available - then roll into horse racing.

Go and see Keenland. We went back in 2021 and had an awesome time before the game. Learned how to horse bet and won some money

Keeneland is a must do and if you want to do a distillery tour then do either Castle and Key in Frankfort (30ish minutes away from Lexington) or Old Forrester in Louisville. Castle and Key is just a beautiful distillery and one that isn't as well known but, in my opinion, a very tasty bourbon. Old Forrester may be a bit far away, 75ish minutes, but they make their own barrels and you get to watch the process during the tour. It's a very unique distillery tour experience since almost none make their own barrels.

Also going...looking forward to it. Have reservations for Buffalo Trace on Friday. Anybody have recommendations for gameday other than Keeneland? Restaurants/bars near Kroger Field?
Been looking forward to cooler weather than the devil's taint - aka Metro NOLA.
Just looked at the extended forecast -
High in Metairie next Saturday - 82
Lexington - 84
That's just not right.

If into horse racing, visit Claiborne Farm. They have daily tours, and the cemetery where Secretariat is buried.

We just got back from the bourbon and beyond festival. We stayed in Frankfort Thursday and Friday before heading to Louisville Saturday and Sunday. We did tours at Castle & Key, Buffalo Trace and Whiskey Thief. All three tours were really cool much better than I was expecting. We also went to Woodford Reserve, Glenn’s Creek and J Mattingly. If you’re going to be in that area you can probably still book something at whiskey thief. It’s really laid back and they give you a glass and let you taste pours straight from the barrel at your own pace. The Stave is the bourbon bar and restaurant to eat at in the area, it’s ok but the bourbon is extremely overpriced.

Keeneland has tailgating Friday through Sunday. They have a band and food trucks.
