Heading to Lake Tahoe in January with some buddies for a ski trip. Any advice appreciated. Dining, drinking, etc?

Will be in the South Lake Tahoe area!

Hike up the back of Emersld Bay to Eagle Lake. It’s awesome up there. Took my dog in January one year, it’s a great hike with regular boots. Bring beer and hang out up there on a rest day.

Where are you staying? If you’re down in South Lake giving you recs to places in Tahoe City or Incline Village won’t do you much good. Also what kind of buddies are these, are y’all looking for divey ski bars or high end dining?

Staying at my buddies relatives place. Trying to find out location now. But we would be looking for both.

Seemed like a lot of good local brews. Had some terrible meals there... I’d stay away from X crows bbq and some Irish place across from Harrahs. Very forgettable. Most of our meals were around the heavenly area. Enjoyed California burger company,
Base camp pizza, driftwood cafe, and azul. I’m sure there are better places but we were limited to this area which seemed kind of touristy.

Wish I could help but I’m not too familiar with South Lake, I spend my time in the basin around Tahoe City & Truckee and sometimes Incline Village. Any suggestion I have could easily be over an hour each way from where you’re staying and wouldn’t be worth the drive and the headache of getting back after drinking.

We ate there as well. It wasn't horrible, but yeah...forgettable.

This place is a little expensive but awesome. Great views and food.

my best recommendation for tahoe is: if the nice girl behind the rental car desk in reno suggests you upgrade to 4x4 cause they're expecting a lot of snow in the mountains, it is best to heed her advice. Got the snow chains hanging on my wall in florida as a reminder of my very poor decision.
