Amazing trip, had such a great time going all over the country. Spent a week in Bangkok, a week at 4 different resorts in Phuket and a week in the northern area of Udon Thani and Nong Khai on the Laos border. Old Town in Phuket City was our favorite, the Portuguese architecture was stunning.

Loved it so much heading back in April! Thought I would share some photos and if anyone had any questions about a trip ask away. If you ever go to Kata Noi Beach do not use the ATM machine right by the beach on the main path to the beach, stole my info but of course bank blocked it all but still very annoying.

Nice …. Phuket is so crowded these days that it’s a bit much. Old town has some charm and glad you liked it, but too many Chinese/Korean tourist clogging the streets.

Where did you stay in Bangkok?

Since it was the offseason nowhere was overly busy, I try to time my travel in the down seasons to avoid the crowds. Even the beaches were sparsely populated. The downside of course is that it is rain season and it rained every single day but always clears up after not too long and the sun comes out.

Stayed at The Aira Hotel in Sukhumvit 11.

Phuket is always busy really .. especially with the influx of Russians. But I’m sure it was a bit more manageable than the high season.

I know for a fact that your hotel area was busy though .. I hope you were able to see more of BKK. Some great areas there.

Great review. Puket was great, I hated Bangkok. Do yourself a favor and jump over to Siem Reap in Cambodia and do a temple tour (mine was a four temple tour) Angkor Wat is a must see, the flights are cheap.

Chang Mai is really nice from what I have heard.

I liked Bangkok to be honest, and I'm not a big city person at all but it was the first place so the excitement was high and a great area/hotel. I would stay there again.

Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are happening in the April trip, the white and blue temples are at the top of my list.

I will check out your suggestion. Going to spend a couple of days on the way back in Taipei for sure so may not be possible to fit it all in.

The street chicken in Bangkok was amazing though. So cheap and soo good!

Did you go to the island where The Beach and the island we The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed?

I have gone twice and I enjoy it. Was deathly ill the first time ( closest to death I’ve ever been) . I’m not a fan of Bangkok really but love Phuket an Chiang Mai. I find myself looking at condos these days and thinking of the digital nomad lifestyle.

Great pics.

Nice, haven't been to Bangkok but did 10 day in Phuket. We really enjoyed some of the islands. Ko Yao Yai and Ko Yao Noi are super laid back and non touristy. Phi Phi is the party island...wild times

Bangkok takes some time to really dig into, but once you unlock a bit of it ... it's a fantastic place. I especially enjoy Talat Noi and the other older areas by the river. So much food, shopping and arts in that city. Not to mention, the partying elements, which can be attractive to many.

I just spent 3.5 months each in both Samui and Phuket for work. I did enjoy the sleepiness of Samui, but was alway pining to get back to the city. Phuket is a mess, but there is some relief to be found.

I worked in Chiang Mai for 5 months and recently spent Christmas there. It's a chill vibe and very small and also a great jumping off point to the northern sites. It's slightly overrated to me, but also has a special place. Certainly, worth a visit if you can squeeze it in. I always recommend adding time or stops in Vietnam.

You can tell this isn't the OT. No inquiries about any depravities.

Looks like an awesome trip.

On your return trip, the Night Market at Chang Mai is worth a few nights.

Ride elephants, mountain bike and whitewater raft during the days. Spectacular place.

Regrettably, it has a been a few years for me since Pol Pot had refugees streaming across the border selling everything they could but it was a very serene experience over all.

I will be back.

You just have to say no when the Tuk-Tuk drivers are showing you pics of their “sister” who wants to meet/please an American.

You should protect your kidneys and exit at the first respectible hotel.

I lost my phone on my first day in Phnom Penh in a tuk tuk. I still have the Cambodian phone I bought.
