Potentially planning a family vacation to Jackson Hole in late October or early November. We will have our 3 year old with us. I’m trying to find out if we should go somewhere else or if there is enough for her to do there. Looking at going 4 or 5 days. We would like to stay in town. Best places to stay and eat? Activities we can do with a 3 year old? Is it best to rent a car or Uber? Thanks for any input…

If you do not go to the Tetons you could walk around the town but you would really be short changing yourself. You cannot Uber to the Tetons which are only 15 minutes away so plan on renting a car. Strongly recommend Enterprise if flying into Jackson. Do not use Hertz which is a franchise (off site) and a ripoff. I would not worry about catering to a 3 year old. Just drag them to the park. It is beautiful. One of the most beautiful parks period and there are plenty of threads on it. 4 days would be perfect. 3 in the park and one in town. The National Elk Refuge borders Jackson and you will see bighorn sheep there for sure, entry is free and worth it. Driggs, ID is nearby and is a cool little town. Merry Piglets and El Abuleto are good Mexican joints. Cultivate Cafe is quite good. Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and Wort Hotel are cool.

I'll drive you around all week if you pay for my hotel room. Probably cheaper than a rental and you won't have to deal with parking

Be sure to check seasonal road closures around the Tetons. One of the major roads closes in November depending on snowfall. Jackson will be fine, we stayed in the Wort hotel on the square for a few nights. It is right in the middle of everything.

We were there in late May this year, planning on going back next year in late September to do some hiking. Love that area.

Drive over the pass to Victor, Idaho and get a huckleberry milkshake at the Victor emporium. Worth the drive. I still think about it lol

Check out Turo car rental. It's a rental car app that we used in Bozeman. Saved us a ton of money over renting from Hertz/Enterprise. Looks like they have plenty of cars available in Jackson Hole.

Most of the activities aside from shopping will be outdoors. They had a scenic float tour (not whitewater) that might still be running then. There was a little girl about that age with her grandmother on that trip and she did fine. A gondola ride up to the top of the mountain at Grand Teton Resort. Seems there were some other things to do there as well.

Plenty of places to stay. Eat, there were a couple of fine dining options which you may or may not want to go with a 3 yr old. We enjoyed The Blue Lion and Snake River Grill. For less than fine dining, try Thai Me Up and Snake River Brewing. For breakfast/brunch Pearl Street Bagels in Wilson, Nora's fish Creek Inn also in Wilson, and Persephone bakery (Jackson and Wilson).

Rent a car for sure. There weren't any rental cars available at the Jackson airport when we went in late June.

Work a drive around Yellowstone if you can. It's basically a giant zoo. Plenty for the 3 yr old to look at out the window. Again, we went in the summer. I'd check and see what the roads look like around that time of year as others have suggested.

Right?

It really must have been something they loved doing. They’ve been sitting on a small fortune for twenty years now.

It’s my favorite place in the valley though

I enjoyed the Blue Lion and Snake River Grill. I'd probably pick Blue Lion of the two as it was more of an old school place.

Roadhouse Brewery is a big tourist spot, but the food and beer are way above average. Bapp is a little Korean spot on the Hwy just before town that is also really good. Stillwater Brewery by Snow King is legit. Eleanors is kind of a locals spot in the back of a liquor store which is a good late night option when you get tired of seeing old people in National Park patch jackets.
