Southwest hasn't really been affected by this right? Supposed to fly out of MSY tomorrow, and return Sunday

Correct, their IT is from the 90s so they've not really been affected by these newer windows updates. It's actually amusing how their older technology is doing better

Delta isn’t letting me touch my Wednesday return flight that goes through ATL, guess I’ll keep trying

The waiver has been extended through tomorrow, but does not include Wednesday yet. I'd expect Wednesday to be added at some point today

Looking like you're already delayed this evening to MSY. Hope it doesn't cancel

LINK

On the track inbound flight it has your plane coming from Phoenix landing at 1038pm which is way past your departure time. Hopefully they do a plane swap. Delta app has your plane coming from Minneapolis

Wick, let us know how Atlanta is. Take some pics if you can of the lines for rebooking, gate areas, etc

Do not get on the 605pm that's delayed. That plane is still stuck in Nashville and hasn't even left yet for ATL. Looks like your flight is now coming from Las Vegas and is in the air at least

I thought you were on the flights today! You'd be stuck in Atlanta for a while if you were there today. Unfortunately tonight there's big issues in NYC from thunderstorms so I wouldn't be surprised to see jfk-milan delayed resulting in your flight to Atlanta being delayed

So why is delta being affected so hard by this outage a few days ago? It seems like others have recovered better. I'm seeing a lot of tweets about cancelled flights and no customer service today. A lot of luggage piled up at airports too

Cuse what do you recommend for Wednesday flights through ATL? Delta system still errors out when trying to change. Would be so much easier to change now in case I need to extend hotel stay.

So far the waiver is only through tomorrow. I'm hoping they add wednesday soon given they cancelled another 1,000 flights today and delayed a lot more. Keep checking the delta webpage for updates, ill reply here as soon as i see one (if they update it)

Hi cusetiger I’m so glad you made this thread.

I’m supposed to fly delta with my family back from Spain on Thursday.

I’m starting to get nervous seeing the cancellations reported and the videos out of the Atlanta airport. Any advice for us? Is there any way to not fly through ATL at this point? Should we extend our stay here somehow? What’s the best method to reach Delta if we do need to make changes? I have the app. Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

Rome, you're supposed to be in Rome not Madrid

Nothing you can do at this point except pray that mad-atl and atl-msy don't get cancelled. I'd say you could potentially change your routing but international I wouldn't touch it. I will say if delta does cancel your MSY flight you can claim $$ from them per the European flight standards. I'll have to find some more details as I've never had to file a claim, but if an event is within deltas control, they are obligated to pay for your food and hotel along with $$. EC 261 is what you need to look up.

They cancelled 400 more flights today

I’m on DL4023 & DL2670 Thursday. Should I wait it out and see what happens? I can book with United but I’m sure I’ll lose $

Booked a backup flight with American, can’t believe it’s come to this. My hotel was full of people competing for additional nights after their flights were cancelled this morning out of MSP, decided to avoid that mess proactively. Most delta options are full, so even if they allowed changes tomorrow it’ll be a gamble.

My son's girlfriend was supposed to catch a Delta flight to Memphis on Saturday around noon.

My biggest problem Saturday was that they ended up sending only 2 flights out to Memphis that day and it was the earliest flight and the latest flight and both were delayed up to 4 hrs. They knew there wasn't a chance to send more and yet instead of just canceling them that morning, they pushed them to delayed. Which meant that everyone on that flight had to be at the airport more than 2 hrs early AND sat for 4 extra hrs in an already packed airport.

It's beyond crappy to make people go through all that when you instead should have just canceled the flights and let people not clog the airport even more. We ended up just making a judgement call based on what we were seeing and she got a e-refund off the app. So she didn't get stuck in it, but thousands were and are. Must have felt like cattle headed to slaughter being packed in the airport lines.

Can you book a refundable ticket on united? I'm not advocating for wasting money but if you see the delta flight is on time then day of just cancel the United ticket and get your money back in 5-7 days. I'd go that route

I'm glad you did, did you get a refundable ticket? Then if delta does end up going on time you can get the refund. If not then cancel and save the credit for later in the year. It's valid for a year from purchase date

I had a friend have this happen to them on Sunday but caught them right as they left their house and told them to turn around. This is not the week to go sit at an airport waiting on a flight crew to hopefully show up

Delta is still melting down. It could last all week

CNN

AtlantaCNN —

Bad news for passengers: Delta Air Lines canceled hundreds more flights early Tuesday morning, as the problems caused by last week’s global tech outage continued into a fifth day. Worse news: Delta’s meltdown will probably extend through the end of the week.

As of 8:30 am ET the Atlanta-based airline had canceled 420 flights, and Endeavor Air, its regional carrier that feeds its system under the Delta Connection brand, had canceled another 18 flights. The cancellations follow more than 1,250 flight cancellations Monday, and 4,500 flights from Friday through Sunday between Delta and Delta connection.

quote:

There were more than 400 Delta and Delta Connection listed as delayed by FlightAware. The canceled flights by the two carriers represented nearly 70% of all flights within, to or from the United States that have been canceled on Monday, according to FlightAware. No other US airline had canceled one tenth as many flights.

Refundable, but my company has approved the travel credit if it comes to that.

Since my original Delta flight connects through ATL, I’m actually wondering if I should cancel the Delta flight even if departure is on time. Worried about getting stuck in ATL.
