We settled on Islamorada June 6–13. Lots of fishing charters seem to call that place home. Place is full of seafood restaurant says you might expect, has anybody been with a recommendation of one or two spots we should miss, maybe like a sunset dinner?

Lorelei Cabana Bar is a super casual spot but has good food and incredible sunset views.

Stop at Robbie's and feed the Tarpon, pretty cool experience.

Rent kayaks at Robbie's & paddle out to Indian Key to explore the ruins & snorkeling. Just be mindful of the tides so you don't get stuck on a sandbar!

You’ll definitely want to be on the water as much as possible. The beaches in the Keys aren’t great, but Bahia Honda is the best and worth spending some time at. You’ll want to drive down to Key West and check it out for a day too. A week can be a long time in the Keys.

There is a Hampton Inn in Key Largo that is nice and usually reasonably priced. It is an hour from MIA. Key Largo is not much nicer than Galveston or the other barrier islands on the Texas coast. The water in Key Largo is not Brown, but it is not as blue as it is in the southern keys. You have to get further south in the Keys to get more of an Island feel.

True for sandy beaches, but the best for scuba.
They should be open by June. SW is also very accommodating if you need to cancel, would be more concerned with hotel refund,

Ended up booking the Casa Marina Waldorf for the first half of the trip to get the honeymoon going. Mid-week we will be moving to a bead and breakfast with bottomless mimosas and a free happy hour. We wanted to get the best of both worlds on this trip

excursion wise- we want to do the lazy dog kayak thing, and are looking to book a day/afternoon on a catamaran party boat if you know of any such thing? Something that takes you off the island and such.

Danger Charters and Fury are two of the bigger charter companies on Key West. Check out their websites to see if they have what you’re looking for. If not there are plenty of other companies that should.

Are the keys going to be open to us from Louisiana? Our mexico trip was canceled yesterday and I'm looking for something last minute. Was thinking duck key. Never been.

Keys have the same rules as the panhandle, so not right now. Louisiana residents will probably be shut out at least through June.
