The Wynn is #1.

Id say Wynn Encore is #1.

A lot depends on what vibe you want.

Wynn is like a JW Marriott. Quiet, predictable, a little understated and classy.

Cosmo is like an LA boutique hotel. Different vibe, little more energy, but just as nice IMO.

Aria had some of the best rooms Ive experienced there, but the gaming floor was not on par with the other places IMO.

The nicest rooms IMO in Vegas however are at the Trump. That place is next level, just doesn't have gambling onsite and you are at the very end of the strip.

Never understood the need for an expensive room in Vegas. Give me Ballys, mid strip with a room facing the fountains any day. Nice rooms and perfect location.

I don’t necessarily disagree with your premise, but the problem, especially in Vegas, is cheap rooms attract the worst clientele. The abundance of alcohol exacerbates the issue.

I’ve had trips to Vegas where I stayed at Cosmo or Wynn (or one of the other premier resorts) and I never needed to leave my hotel. Benefit of this is less money wasted on Uber/taxi and not walking LV Blvd, which is an absolute shite show.

I could not agree more. Cheap hotels attract cheap, trashy people. I've seen drunks puke at a BJ table, and all that happened was, an environmental service person came and cleaned it up and the the drunk kept on playing. I've stayed at a lot of different Vegas strip hotels. There is definitely a difference in the type of people depending on the cost of the room. You could not pay me to stay at Excalibur, Circus Circus, or Luxor.

We have already done the Utah Mighty Five. I'm using the term parks loosely here. I'm talking some combination of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Red Rocks, Valley of Fire. Just something to break up the days on the strip.

You should spend a night or two out at Las Vegas Lake, few miles outside Vegas. There's a Hilton and Marriot resort there. Really nice little property that is like a little Italian village. Has a couple of little restaurants in it. There's water activities in the Lake for the kids, and youre not far from Lake Mead/Hoover Dam. It's a nice change of pace from the strip.

Wife and I stayed out there after a few days on the strip. Was nice to wind down and relax there after being on the strip.

Makes sense now. Hoover Dam is interesting and hot as well in the summer. If you go to Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire, go really early in the day and definitely buy a cheap ice chest for water, etc. You might look into the Black Canyon kayaking on the Colorado River. I think the trips start near Hoover Dam. I've wanted to do it and it's just never worked out. If your kids are active, they'd love it!

I love the Cosmo and center strip. But if I were taking kids, I'd probably stay at either Mandalay Bay or the MGM for the pools. They are also near the NYNY with the roller coaster. That whole area is a little more kid friendly, IMHO. I don't think the Cosmo is the right place with kids. It's pretty much all casino with some restaurants thrown in. You might even look at the MGM Signature or the Delano. If you want center strip I'd go either Caesar's (more upscale) or Flamingo with kids.

Don't stay at either, stay at the Venetian. It's worth it.

Only place I've stayed. Love it.
