Just looking for ideas of nice places to travel for Thanksgiving. Possibly with the kids. Possibly without. Kids are 6 and 2. Driving or flying. Doesn't really matter.

Our family did Washington DC last Thanksgiving (kids 10,8 and 6) and it was a lot of fun. All the museums are open and the city was not crowded.

We actually hit the beach every Thanksgiving. For the last three years it's been Navarre, a little east of P'Cola. The rates are much lower than in summer, the beaches are pert near empty, and it's still warm enough in Florida to enjoy the water.

We go to New York for the week of thanksgiving. Kiddo loves it. See the parade at least once then you can skip it later.

You're going to leave your kids on Thanksgiving? Ice cold man.

I like the idea of bearing somewhere cold during Thanksgiving. My wife and I have thought about bringing the kids to the mountains and telling both sides of the family that they are welcome to join us, but we won't miss any of them.

the wife and I did Big Bend Natl. Park last Thanksgiving, plus Marfa. We really enjoyed every bit of that trip, including a long Thanksgiving Day hike and a feast that evening near the Ghost Town of Terlingua, TX.

If you like the idea.. let me know, and I shall expound.

It's probably unlikely we would but it's not like we would be horrible for doing it imo. They would spend a few days with grandparents and love every minute of it. Plus we've already taken them to Disney and Punta Cana this year.

Thanksgiving is a pretty great time to be in AZ.

Thanksgiving Eve in Old Town is like god damn spring break.

Thanksgiving Morning hike up Camelback. Lunch buffet at Wrigley Mansion. Spend rest of afternoon lounging by the resort pool or people watching in Old Town.

Friday drive up to either Sedona or Flagstaff for rest of the weekend (make one your home base). Sedona is "classier", Flagstaff has a younger vibe. From either base you can day trip to the other and day trip to South Rim Grand Canyon.

Good chance of having pool weather Wed-Thu in Phx and light snow Fri-Sat in N AZ.

With kids or without kids this would be a fun time.
