Would appreciate any intel on when any flights will begin leaving msy.
I’m trying to get my sister out of to me in Arizona. She cannot drive to another airport because she just had should surgery last Wednesday.
I see flights available to book for tomorrow on Expedia, but might they be canceled?
Thanks in advance.

Saturday seems possible given there is at least some power in the city now, but still need to wait and see
This must mean next Wednesday as everything today is cancelled again

I just went to check on my southwest flights into/out of MSY in 2 weeks (through Sept 19) and got a message that I can change for free to any flight including nearby airports. So if you have a southwest flight at a shitty flight time, you can change to a better time for free. Hope this helps a few of y'all

Good luck man.
We just checked into our flight, ATL-FCO and they checked everything. Make sure you have passenger locator form, vaccine card, and Negative test.

Reading that delta is going to try and operate 3 flights tomorrow from ATL-MSY in the middle of the day- 2237, 2055, and 2368. Anyone on one of these flights scheduled into or out of MSY? If so please update the board here with conditions of the airport.
Advice to anyone with a current booking into or out of MSY- Do not book the first flight of the morning. Looks like at least what Delta is doing is flying in a ground crew on a separate plane, operating daytime flights, then flying the crew out before dark. As a result, none of the late night flights look to be operating (ie last in, first out). If you have a flight booked for 6-9am out of MSY or a flight into MSY after roughly 7pm, let's help you get rebooked onto something that has a chance to operate.

Thanks man. Appreciate it. Ended up having to switch my flight out of Houston and just drove here. Kinda sucks but glad to have it sorted. Have my test tomorrow and leaving tomorrow night. Enjoy y'all's trip

I'm scheduled for 2919 tomorrow MSY-ATL. I decided to stick it out and see if it would go rather than rebooking. So far, still says that it's on time.
2919 is the same plane as the 2237 you mentioned coming in, so I guess I'll be the first flight out if nothing changes before then.
Delta sent an email saying that the airport will be without A/C and bathrooms, and they'd do their best to let people on the plane immediately after deplaning the previous flight. I can try to report back tomorrow with more info if it isn't canceled before I get there.
Is there anything you think I should know before I go? I'll be driving in from Baton Rouge.

Glad you responded! Happy we have someone from here to help report conditions and also that it's a good chance you'll get out.
Advice/tips: Have a plan ready. Where are you planning on parking- at the airport, offsite, random street? If at the airport, do you know if there's room in the lots? Once in the airport, don't expect things to be quick. Hope you're not checking a bag since that'll add extra time and effort (go carry-on if possible). Guessing the delta checkin screens won't work and most things will be done old school with just tags. For TSA, I'm unsure how on generator power they'd operate more than one or 2 X-ray systems to scan baggage so expect this to take a while. Print your boarding pass in Baton Rouge on paper if you can tonight, don't trust the delta app on your phone to save you. No restrooms or AC as you said so go when you leave BR and worst case go on the plane. This is sounding very third world esque the more I describe what to expect

These are good thoughts. Thank you! I'm trying to balance getting there early enough to deal with the issues but not so early I'm sitting in the heat for hours.
Unfortunately, I can't print my boarding pass but I at least took a screenshot of it on the app in case it won't load down there. I'm only bringing a back pack so no worries on the baggage. Parking is what I'm most stressed about, especially because I haven't been since the new terminal was built. So I'll already be a little lost.
I feel pretty lucky that my flight still has a chance to go. Hoping I still feel lucky when I'm sitting in the hot airport!

We're scheduled to fly out 9/9 from MSY on SWA. I'm anxious to go ahead and change even though I really don't want to drive to JAN and back. My husband (who is probably right) says we need to wait. With SWA allowing changes for flights scheduled through 9/19, it comes across they aren't exactly chomping at the bit to get back to normal ops. Thoughts?

Got the dreaded flight change email from SWA this morning. Our outgoing nonstop flight on 9/15 changed to a connecting flight in ATL and all available rebooking options all require layovers. I am gonna try to wait this out, if we have to, we'll drive to Orlando.

I just got the canceled text. Now my husband has to "think on that" so I'm pretty sure we're just bailing on the trip.

Your inbound flight just took off, should get there around 1050am.
Yeah your comment on getting there early but not too early is completely valid. This isn't one of those times that I'd recommend an hr before, but given no luggage you're probably good with 2 hrs before. Let us know how it goes

Where were you headed? I think southwest is going to be the biggest loser out of the airlines since they're the only one who doesn't fly into BTR. A drive to Jackson or Houston is your main rebooking option

Just looked into this and you are correct. Southwest has pretty much cancelled everything except 4 flights a day through Sept 19- one from Chicago, one from Houston, one from Dallas, and one from Atlanta

We're trying to get refunds from SWA (not credits). I emailed. Guess that's all I can do for now? We were going to DC for a concert and using free Hyatt nights so it's not a huge deal.
Know anyone who wants to buy tickets for King Crimson at the Anthem in DC on 9/11?

Sorry if I got you anxious. I'm taking a look long term at their flights and see they drastically have reduced the flight schedule to very limited flights.
In your case on Saturday, they're still selling tickets on your morning flight so that's good news in that it's not been canceled yet. What time are you heading back? Everything back to Dallas shows as unavailable so it's all booked

Returning on the 3pm flight. I'm just hoping to empty the fridges and give the cats more food and water and blast straight back to the airport. If somehow a later flight back opens up I would switch to it.
