I practically totaled a car in Ireland several years ago by sideswiping a flat bed truck.
It was the first day I was there. And it was an automatic.
Take this for what it’s worth.

Actually doing a Scotland trip starting 01/19. We are flying into Glasgow and staying 1 day. I am not really into cities and crowds. Why else go to Scotland in January. Lol. Getting a rental and headed over to Oban. Going to do 2 nights there with some local excursions. Then headed to Inverness for 4 days with more exploring and "homeland" visiting. Head over to Aberdeen for a day or so before taking a flight up to Shetland. Going to partake in Up Helly Aa and spend 4 or 6 nights out on the coast trying to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Then catching a flight back to Glasgow. Plan on 2 car rentals with manual trans and looking forward to it.

Just got an old Honda mini truck. It’s awesome. Shifting with the left hand is weird for sure. I haven’t had any issues but I’m just putting around a farm and country back roads. In a city and driving on the other side of the road I could see some issues.
