Family trip. Kids are 7,5,3. Going to beach in June, so wanting something different. I've narrowed it down to these 3 places for now, open to others. This will be in mid July.

What time of year you thinking? White River and Broken Bow could be an escape from the heat if late summer

I havent done White River but have been to the other two.

Honestly tubing down the Frio would be my top choice. It will be hot outside but the shady banks of the that cool river make it all better.

Broken Bow is fun but I think my daughter (9) had more fun on the Frio

The White is primarily a fishing river, almost everyone will be in a jon boat or jet boat. If they're releasing water it won't be fun floating. I would float the Buffalo just down the road (a tributary of the White) if that's what you're looking to do

Kids LOVE the Frio. When I've been, it's usually a decent sized group, like let your kids bring a friend or go with another family. It's a pretty laid back trip and nothing fancy at all. You stay in Concan or Leakey (Lakey) and rent a cabin. There's a few restaurants around, but not a lot. They're the old fashioned burger, chicken fried steak, or steak kind of places. We usually grilled steaks, grilled burgers and hot dogs, and did spaghetti.

You float every day (once or twice), go to the dance at Garner at least one evening, and you could do a side trip to hike at Lost Maples.

It's mostly families and there is a bit of drinking on the river and at night. There's always plenty of other kids at other cabins for them to hang around with. It's very much a throwback vacation to times in the past. Not sure about now, but a few years back, cell service wasn't great out there.

I can tell you this, Broken Bow isn't cheap for being in the middle of nowhere. There ain't shite to do out there, but hang out in your airbnb or be on the lake, but the spots are like $500/night.
