Hiking to Delicate Arch in ANP

Has anyone made the hike to Delicate Arch, in Arches National Park?. I'm 65 years old and not in the best of shape, and was wondering if it would be feasible. Will be there in August.

It's an easy 1.5 mile hike (1 way) but in August it'll be VERY hot quickly. Take caution.

Ok thanks for the info. At least you didn't say "don't even try you old geezer". I'd hate to go to ANP and not go to the Delicate Arch. I'll give it a shot. You only live once, right?

Be careful man. Drink LOTS OF WATER starting the day before the hike. Try to start right at sunrise.

It’s pretty easy

It's not bad, and a very populated trail in case something bad happened.
I do remember one part where we hugged a wall for a narrow part of the trail. Was that the Delicate arch trail?

Thanks for all of the input gang. Whatever doubt I had before, has now convinced me that it's on. Of course if I were 45 years younger, I would run up the trail... backwards. Ah, the marvels of Marine Corps training!

It’s an easy hike but almost zero shade and a decent amount of elevation gain for someone who lives in a flat area. I’d either get in better shape or rethink it. The second mile of it climbs on a big rock face fully exposed without a hint of shade. You need to do this really early or late in the day.
It’s beautiful at the top and probably my favorite view in arches park but you need to know what you are getting in to. Do not do this mid day in August

It is not a super hard hike but not leisurely, either - especially in August. There is a fair amount of elevation gain. You will be walking uphill most of the time.
The view is better in the late afternoon / sunset than any other time of day because that is when the Sun shines brightly on the arch. The crowds, however, would be better at sunrise / early morning. I would choose one of those two times.

Strongly suggest starting just before sunrise to beat the heat. Did it in July with 8 and 10 year olds - beating the heat was key. Coming down at 830 and people were already feeling it coming up.
Hike itself is mild uphill for 1.5 miles
