Me and 3 of my other friends are going to Europe this summer following our college graduation (late May).

We plan on hitting Bruges, Munich/Innsbruck, and either Paris or Prague.

The problem is the group is split on Paris or Prague. So I've come here to ask for your input on which we should choose.

We're a pretty mellow bunch but all like to drink (just not a club scene group if that makes sense).

Thanks for your input and any other suggestions are welcomed.

All guys?

So here is the deal, I have been to Paris and it might be my favorite city on Earth. I have not been to Prague but have done a great deal of research on it.

IF it is a bunch of single guys, I would probably consider Prague. Prague is supposed to have amazing beer...and I think it is more suited for single guys, I'll put it that way.

I personally see Paris as somewhat more of a couples trip, but Paris has a huge party scene as well and some unbelievable women if you're dudes.

I love Paris, you really can't go wrong either way I don't think.

Couple of other things:

Paris probably has a LOT more to do. The Catacombs, the Eiffel and all that stuff is pretty awesome to see.

Prague will almost certainly be cheaper.

All guys.
1 has a long-time girlfriend.

It's my first time to Europe so I'm content with either, although I'm leaning Prague.

One guy has been to Paris before, and is like you, says it's his hands-down favorite city on Earth.
We may end up flipping a coin.

Thanks by the way.

Prague's nightlife is off the hook. A bunch of guys would definitely have a good time there.

I have been to both Paris and Prague and would go back to Prague in a heartbeat.

Since you are going to Bruges and Munich I'd go to Paris as its in the middle.

Prague is more known for beer, but the micro brew scene can be found pretty much around the world now.

If 3 out of 4 have never been to Paris and the one guy that has loved it, I'd do Paris. Its a lot bigger city. You'll have tons of stuff and more to do there.

That's my thought as well.
Plus it seems like the architecture and sites are pretty awesome too. (Didn't PragUe escape major bombing in WWII?)

I've been thinking about that as well.

And actually, I'm the only one who hasn't been to Paris. One guy absolutely loves it and another has the "I've been there, I like it, but let's go somewhere else this time" mantra.

I'm thinking maybe just do Paris and then do a strictly Eastern Europe trip another time.

I was also thinking that your mix of cities was kinda random. What's sending you to Bruges, then Munich? I understand if you're trekking to visit friends/family and have free places to stay, but you're going to spend a decent amount of time & money schlepping around.

If this is a self-designed itinerary, I'd pick two cities & find a destination between them/along the way.

Yep.
If Bruges is necessary, then how about Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris?

Or Munich/Innsbruck/Salzburg.....

I would do Prague over Paris and Ghent over Bruges. But that is a spread out itinerary as others have said.

If you’re wanting to do museums and art and again, and shopping and love french history, you have to do Paris

But if you’re wanting to have a fun kick arse time and hangout with your boys, see a few cool sites, and do it all on the cheap. Prague

But....Paris is more different than Bruges/Munich/Austria than Prague is.

What do y’all like to do

(Btw this reminds me I need to follow up on the other Paris threads. Will do soon.)

Prague is my favorite city that I've ever visited. Can't wait to go back.

If it's a guys trip and you're looking to just take in the city and drink then Prague is perfect for that.

The beer is cheaper than water.

In your OP you talk about not being big partiers then you bring back up the party scene in Prague. So I'd be honest with yourself there. But more importantly I'd be honest about your group.

Nothing wrong with partying at all, but you can go and drink from dinner to 10 and then pass out and hit the sites the next days at normal time.

If you go with the plan to party you need to realize that many places go super late in and don't start until super late in Europe. If you are partying until 4am then your next day is pretty worthless for sightseeing.

I'd also be honest about your group in that if one guy stays out all night then you don't want to rely on waiting for him the following day.

Op you need to consider flights too. Which you never mentioned. You are not flying into Bruges for example from the states.

You are really planning this trip back arse words.

Figure out your flights to and from the states, then plan in between them. You may get dirt cheap flights out of somewhere else and decide that would be great too.

Yep--since the airfare is the biggest expense, start there. Let it help determine the itinerary.

Might I suggest London, Bruges, Paris? Or the reverse? London is a great city, with lots of pub culture, a craft beer scene, opportunities for historic pub crawls, no language barrier, and plenty of AirBnBs suitable for friends traveling together.
