Which island (or islands) are you going to? Or have you not decided yet?

There was an escorted tour of the Dole Pineapple operation. Sounds boring, but my wife LOVED it. They pick up and drop you back off in Waikiki. She said the best part was the drivers talking about the cultures and ways of the native Hawaiians.

She also teared up over the Pearl Harbor Arizona Memorial. Best part was waiting to board with two teens behind her bitching about everything. Had those two looked around, they would have seen two Marines behind them. They were pulled out of line, and a lesson taught. It's her fondest memory of the trip.

Maui
We downloaded an app that gives a virtual tour for the Road to Hana. That was pretty awesome. Plan a whole day for that and do as many side excursions as you can. Too many people drive straight to the black beach and then come right back; don't do that.

Also, hike to the volcano crater. The landscape is unlike anything I've ever seen. Supposedly one of the quietest places on the planet.

Make sure to get reservations at black Rock Beach on road to hana, if you plan to go. Shaka guide was an awesome companion and works off GPS, since service is extremely spotty outside Hana itself. And make sure to swim in as many of the roadside springs as you can. Ice cold and refreshing.
