On the short walk, keep in mind the size of the condo if condo is the direction you go. I’ve stayed at ones with terrible elevator situations, so while the building is a short walk, you add 15-30 minutes just dealing with busy elevators.
Yeah, this is why I would never suggest the Phoenix West(I and II) to people.

The Phoenix buildings were exactly what I had in mind when I made that comment. We stayed at one once, and we waited for an elevator for almost an hour on checkout day. It was a little more reasonable during our stay, but still some 15 minute waits for one.
I don’t know which number Phoenix it was, but it was the one right across from Live Bait.

Eden has aged. We had roaches on balcony and air did not work half the time. Navarre beach for sure.

We have young kids and love Navarre. When we plan a beach trip we talk about trying different areas but we always end up in Navarre and never regret it. Good local restaurants and not too far from Fort Walton / Destin one way and Pensacola the other way if you wanted more dining or entertainment options. Navarre is a great option if you are looking for a great beach with the beautiful blue green water without the crowds of Destin or Gulf Shores.
On a side note the only thing my kids were sad about our last trip was finding out that the cat from The Back Porch died.

I think wife and I are keying into Navarre for this trip. Any must-do’s there? Thanks again everyone for the suggestions, we really appreciate it.

I would say Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. In addition to the beach there are tons of great restaurants. There is also OWA which is an amusement and Water park.
LINK
There is also A Tanger Outlet if the wife wants to go shopping.
Another shopping area called The Wharf, which has a concert venue.
June has Jimmy Buffet on the 2nd
Dierks Bentley on the 10th

There is the Gulf Breeze Zoo for some time away from the beach.
Adventures Unlimited has canoes, tubes on the Coldwater Creek; it also has zip lines. Maybe 45-60 minute drive from the Island.
There is also a Sea Turtle Conservation Center that could be interesting as well; i have never been so can't say.
Note that traffic on/off the island on weekends can be heavy.
Shark Bites food truck for awesome breakfast burritos, Alphys for a more conventional breakfast, Paradise Donuts truck. Navarre Bakery has ice cream and baked goods. The Twist has good ice cream with a wide variety of flavors.
Enjoy your visit!
