Any suggestions about this place. Wife wants to take kids 7 year old and 2 year old for Mardi Gras. Looking at LaGrange (Atlanta) or Grapevine (Dallas).

I've never been but as far as I know there is not a lot in that area (LaGrange) but that hotel. My wife and I were talking about that this week when we passed it going and coming from NOLA for Thanksgiving.

Book one night & use the water park 2 days, then move to the Gaylord across the street (Grapevine).

We’ve been to Grapevine twice and my daughter enjoyed it. Got an assortment of things to do in the area besides the water park as well if you want to venture out.

Can't speak on the lodge, but the Gaylord across the street is definitely worth checking out.

this is very true. There is an okay Wild Animal Safari not too far from there. There's some underrated scenery around Pine Mountain, GA but there's not much urban life in the Legrange area.

Been many times to GWL, Grapevine. Highly recommend it to your family!

When you decide to plan your visit think about the best dates for prices they are right after Jan. 1. The website is awesome to view and compare dates vs prices. When planning make sure you arrive Sunday afternoon and leave by Thursday or sooner. It is really intimate during those days! Weekends bring in the local crowds!

Make sure you get a room on the lobby floor or down one story. Most importantly get a room near the elevator or you will be walking a lot! Just a warning. There are fun activities there like bedtime stories with animatronics liken to Disney. The rooms are huge. Big enough for a family of four and grandparents! They come with small refrigerators so buy some water and refreshments for you and the kiddos!

One year it was snowing outside while swimming inside, really cool!

Breakfast buffet is fine because you don't have to leave to eat. However the restaurants are not worth it but there are some really great local and national dinning nearby. LEGGOLAND and other children places are in the huge mall. I bring this up to let you know you can diversify your trip a little for you and the family. We also ate in Gaylord's Tuscany restaurant and it was great.

GWL seems pricy but it is so worth it! We made an annual tradition out of it!

Make sure you're all up to date on your vaccinations.

I wouldn’t stay more than a day or two at most. The waterpark gets boring after a couple days.

Get your checkbook ready. It’s fricking expensive.

But the inside is decorated to the nines. It’s amazing. Lots of activities for the kiddos.

Ive been to the one in Grapevine...it's okay for a couple of days but I think a week is too much unless you are venturing out every other day to do something else. After a while, it gets very very stale.

We went one winter for my oldest son's birthday. Man... they had an okay time, but I could hardly stand to be in the place. It felt like a massive germ factory. The combination of it being winter, the sauna like conditions, and the mass of people made me feel like I was catching a respiratory infection just by being in the place.

Also: if yours has the wizard spell adventure thing.. watch out!
