Global entry question

So I did the application and paid the fee. Now every location in the Houston area says no available appointments for interviews, expect the one at terminal e that requires a boarding pass to get into the airport. Do I just need to check every day to see if something pops up? Or did I just throw money away because I’m never going to be able to get a interview?

You can show up for the interview any time.

Same boat as above. You can just show up? You don't have to schedule an appointment online?

I was at the airport and just walked into global entry, my interview was a month out. No one was in line and interview itself took 10 minutes. They asked me questions to which I answered and took my photo.

Did you go to the one that required a boarding pass that is inside the airport? Or the general one?

Was in the same boat in Houston. Drove to San Antonio and got it done the same week my background check came back.

When you go through immigration at IAH when returning from abroad, they have a counter you can go to and be interviewed for global entry. There was no wait. No appointment needed. They ask you a few questions, and you're good to go. Piece of cake. That's what we did a few years ago.

I applied/paid fee and went and did the interview. I've been told a lot of people don't show up for their interview which is why walk ins are acceptable but, when I went, there was a line for interviews. When I applied, I had to schedule the interview two months out (after application approval) because all the interview slots were full.

Keep checking daily, even multiple times a day. I had to do that for my renewal. I think some will accept walk-ins but you won't be guaranteed to get in, so maybe call ahead to confirm. These days doing it on arrival from an international destination seems to be the easiest way to get it done.

Or even domestic flights. if you're planning on flying anywhere, check to see if they do GE interviews in the airport you are flying into.

Has anyone tried walking in for the interview at the airport during a long layover or returning from a flight?

How often do you have to renew?

Every 5 years.

I have some time to waste before a return flight from LAX to MSY on a Sunday. I will try to get GE interview done during that wait.

Applied for Global Entry 2 weeks ago for myself and the wife; received conditional approval within a couple days and just completed the interview at Hobby in Houston upon arrival from Cancun; quite painless.

You don’t need a boarding pass for IAH. I was surprised how easy it was. Short term parking. In and out under 15 minutes
