General Thoughts on Cabo

Long story short, we got married last September in a destination wedding on 30A and never did our honeymoon.
We have been procrastinating until now. We have traveled a lot together (Europe, Hawaii) and normally we are pretty adventurous travelers. But for this we want more of just a low key week to hang out.
We were looking at the Bahamas but a lot of the stuff we wanted was booked and for the price Cabo seems better. I'm sold on it because we have companion with Southwest and could fly direct from Hobby in three hours. No travel time, no hassle
Looking at staying at the O&O.
Who has been? Thoughts?

Spent 10 days in Cabo in October. If you're a sport fisherman it's paradise.
I wasn't crazy about Cabo.
1) On the expensive side for Mexico to me. A lot more expensive than Isla Mujeres.
2) Way too glitzy and touristy for me. It's full of Californians and west coasters (shocking I know). It was like Las Vegas in Mexico to me. I don't like going to a tropical destination with fast food places and shopping malls.
I'm used to quiet Caribbean islands and Isla Mujeres and that slower style is what I prefer. Just my .02. I probably won't return to Cabo.

One & Only is several miles east of the town of Cabo San Lucas. Totally different vibe than the touristy area. It is an amazing resort. (Went before hurricane, but I'm sure it is still on point) Stayed in an infinity pool suite, butler service, excellent restaurants. Service is incredible. Complimentary foot massages at the pool, hostess rove the chaises with free popsicles and fruit. Spa/fitness center is state of the art. It has one of the few swimmable beaches. Only left the resort once to go to San José del Cabo for local food and to sight see.
If you are looking for relaxation, golf, and great food in a medium sized resort, I highly recommend it. Book through American Express Fine Hotels or a Virtuoso agent. They often have a 3rd or 4th night special along with other amenities.

We have always stayed in San Jose del Cabo as opposed to Cabo San Lucas. Much more low key and less touristy. They have a nice town square with restaurants, shops, and Baja Brewing. Have not been back since the hurricane.

I enjoyed cabo. It is very commercialized. Fishing is great. Beer was plentiful. Food was good. I'd go back but only with a group and fish a couple days.

Ya go to Cabo, the beach you can’t swim at! So pointless. No culture, cheesy touristy resorts & nightlife . Tell me how that’s a troll

It's not a troll at all. Cabo is very commercial. While we had a good time there and some fantastic meals I won't be returning. It's just not my style.

I go every year. It has gotten very touristy/Americanized from when I first started travelling there. If you like to fish, they have the best fishing in the world (IMO) and at the best prices. I would go down to the marina the day before you want to go fishing and talk to the deck hands/captains to negotiate prices. You can do a 6 hour trip on a panga for roosterfish for $150-200 plus tip and we usually get a 36' boat to chase marlin for around $550-600 plus tip for a full day trip.

A lot of the beaches at most resorts are not swimmable
O&O is swimmable
I would skip Cabo for a honeymoon unless you’re just chilling at the pool/resort.

In your own post you mention 2 tourists walking by the water being swept into the water by a wave.
you go to a nice resort and don't leave. That's great but You can do that at any number of places, some less than a 5hr drive from Lousiaiana. You don't have to leave the country to do that. If im flying out of the country to hit a beach it sure the frick aint gonna be Cabo.
When i go to the beach, I want to sit and relax. I want to swim. I want to soak in the quietness. I dont want to go to a beach you can't swim at with. I dont want to be hassled by vagabonds trying to sell me drug paraphenalia and mesh trucker hats . Different strokes for different folks.
