Has anyone flown on GLO airlines? I'm planning a trip to Memphis in November and really don't want a layover.

Yeah, they're great. It's a prop plane so don't expect luxury but it's far better than driving 55 which would take just as long as laying over in Houston or Dallas or Atlanta.

Saab 340 prop planes are great for the route.

They seem to be reliable and offer a service that otherwise would require a long drive.

Use it or lose it. When we left on Southwest a few weeks back the agent said they were averaging 60-70 seat factors.

They have pretty frequent delays because they have so few planes running a tight schedule. If any of them is delayed, so is the rest of the day. Most of my experiences have been great and it's life-changing to make the trip in an hour instead of 5-7.

Wife flew them last week to Little Rock & had no problems. Friendly flight attendant & flights were on time. Best part was she could fly there & back the same day.

I've flown them once from Little Rock to New Orleans and it was excellent.

They offered full soft drinks and Zapps Voodoo chips and Oreos as snacks, which is enough to win me over forever.

MSY-MEM and MSY-LIT

Said they were in the 30s-40s to start. No idea on yields though, they don't seem to report to DOT.

I take that back, nothing on yields, but they do show segment data. They are categorized as non-scheduled passenger. In December 2016:

Destination Code Seat Factor
LIT 45.2%
MEM 36.8%
SHV 41.7%

Just saw that GLO filed for bankruptcy protection. Too bad...MSY is probably a tough market to start something like this. I was pulling for them.

I'm not exactly sure it was all GLO's fault. GLO doesn't own any planes and used a charter company for planes and flight crews. The article says GLO questioned CFM about its operations and business practices and they in turn pulled their contract. GLO was probably upset about cancelations and things like that hurting its brand. I guess you leave yourself open to things like that when you don't operate your own planes. Maybe they quickly find a replacement operator or another carrier can come in, because it does seem like the market was growing.

According to the Advocate, GLO received permission to continue flying and will honor bookings and tickets. That is really good news for them.

Good pricing, good service, was perfect while working on project in MEM...I could leave in am and do a site visit and home in pm...Cheap also. Wish they could start up service to ATL. The SAAB was not bad.

The Saab 340 is a very good airplane, and I've flown on a bunch.

Flew to Shreveport a few weekends ago. Great flight. It was delayed an hour, so that sucked, but still way better than driving.

I am seriously missing GLO. Travel to Memphis is now either connect through Dallas, Houston or Atlanta and takes as long as driving. Despite the website still online, apparently the lessor has repossessed their planes and the airline is done. Bummer.

An airline is the toughest business there is to start up and succeed at. It is literally almost impossible to achieve long term success in that industry.
