The wife and I are talking about heading down there in June this year for the anniversary. Will be flying in from Nola. Seems like it is cheaper to fly into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale over Key West. Trying to stay away from Key West for most of the trip and just stay in either Key Largo, Islamorada or Marathon areas if possible. Maybe just go to Key West for a day or evening.

TIA!

islamorada/marathon are centrally located, and easy to go back and forth from. a day in KW is plenty, for me anyway. beware that that area got jacked up pretty good in the last hurricane though

we always stayed at conch key cottages but i dont think it survived

Forgot about the storms down there recently. Do you know if it is in bad shape still?

Check car rental prices, when I visited 10 years ago, it was very expensive to rent a vehicle in Miami

The Hampton Inn in Key Largo is really nice and includes breakfast. It is 1 hour from MIA.

We spent a night in Key Largo several years ago on the way to KW. Stayed at a Holiday Inn that has a marina. The African Queen is kept there. You can go for a ride if you are so inclined.
We loved KW. Lots to do. We enjoyed the day trip to the Dry Tortugas. Would definitely do that again.

We were in Key West about a month ago, all was fine, no storm damage.

Honestly probably the coolest thing we did was stopping at Robbies in Islamorada and hand feeding the tarpon.

If you have a Costco membership check their prices on car rentals. They have some great prices
