The airport in Jackson is 20 minutes from the Teton Village Ski resort.
It's 20 miles and takes 45-60minutes with a shuttle to Teton Village. DO NOT bring beginners to Jackson Hole. There are only a couple of greens, and is mostly a steeper mountain.
Park City is the easiest one to get in and out of especially for families and shuttling. I would take at least one maybe two days of lessons for each person. Park City has a nice downtown area for eating, shopping, drinking as well. The answer is Park City no question.

Utah is a no-brainer here. If money isn't a concern, Park City is the choice. You'll have some really good restaurant options as well.
If you want to save some money, you can get a 2/2 ski in/ski out condo at Solitude for $300/night. Rent your gear at The Lifthouse Ski Shop at the base of the canyon on your way up. No lift lines, great mountain, higher base elevation, and roughly the same driving distance as Park City. You won't have nearly as many amenities as far as dining, etc... but if you're mostly focused on the skiing, you really can't beat the deal.

Reno to Mt. Rose is easy or even the north shore. Driving to North Star and Squaw isn't that bad if it's not snowing and icy.

I have to vote for Park City as well with one caveat. Deer Valley does not allow snow boarders, so don't stay there. Park City & Canyons meet all of your requirements.

We did vail this winter for a week.
Stayed at the arrabelle. The gondola was across the sidewalk from the hotel. We flew into the local airport, stil it's a 30 min drive.
We rented skis and eqipment that the hotel kept at the valet right outside the hotel.
We rented clothes that were delivered to our room for like $12-$17 per day. That was jackets, goggles, gloves, ski pants.
Through the hotel we booked lift tickets and ski lessons for our daughter.
It required nothing but showing up. Loved the hotel and the experience.

I'm going to make a different recommendation. Fly to Gunnison and take shuttle to Crested Butte. Great for families, low cost, no lines, good instructors. Minimal nightlife but shouldn't be an issue for family.

This is a good suggestion if it's possible to find flights that are reasonably priced, Crested Butte is an actual town and taking CME from DIA can be a miserable hours long experience.

Thanks to everyone for all of the different recommendations. I ended up booking right after I started the thread and went with Copper Mountain.
We're staying at East Village for 4 nights. I bought each of us 3 day lift tickets in advance, but we will pay for lessons the morning of, in case we decide to things other than just ski and board.
I was really interested in Park City, but the cheapest flight I could find out of Monroe was almost 3 times what I ended up with by going to Denver instead of Salt Lake City. I may regret that after making the 2 hour haul instead of the 30 minute trip.

I think you made a good decision by choosing Copper. We arrived on a Sunday and traffic wasn't bad at all so we made it in about an hour and a half. Sure, Park City is only 45 minutes from SLC but considering you'd spend another possible 30 minutes on the plane flying into SLC rather than DEN the time almost balances out. I'm certain you will have a great time at Copper. Enjoy!!

Tahoe has been getting a ton of snow this year. There are several resorts to choose from that are great. Heavenly's Nevada side, kirkwood, Northstar ("flatstar" has more of the Colorado resort feel) et al. Fly into reno, rent a car, travel around the lake to check out a few different spots. Tahoe has more of a unintentional throwback feel vs a polished resort like Deer Valley or Vail.
Deer Valley is awesome, but Utah can get really cold and like someone said no snowboarders. One thing to consider about Colorado is altitude especially if it's everyones first time. Base Tahoe is about the altitude of Denver and base Breckenridge is nearly the peak of Heavenly.
Save JH for a later trip.
Eta: enjoy your trip. Copper is great. Flights to SLC are always pricey.

I would suggest Park City. It allows snowboarding. Deer Valley is nicer but no snowboarding. Easy to get to via Salt Lake City airport...40 min ride.

Not a good spot for first time skiers though.

I second Crested Butte for a family trip. Airfare into Gunnison may be a deal killer this late in the game. If you book flights to Gunnison well in advance, it is a real deal.
