Eurostar Tickets

Looking for advice on rail tickets. I'll be traveling with my wife and 2 children (10 and 4) in early June and will be leaving London for a 3 day visit to Ghent / Bruges en route to Paris. I have not traveled extensively in Europe so am generally unfamiliar with train travel. I was looking to book the trip from London to Belgium, . Given the short stop in Belgium, it looks like a 4-day global pass may be a good option, (it appears that kids are free for pass, but not for the single ticket?) as it would cover the route from Brussels to Paris as well. Can anyone provide guidance on this?

You will still need to pay for seat resrvations in addition to the eurail pass. From London to Brussels are Eurostar its about $40 per seat including your kid's seats. You probably will need to pay the reservation fee on the trip to Paris.

Thanks man. I just discovered this also. Looks like I'm better off the book individually. I was pleased to see that the trip from Brussels to Paris is less expensive than London to Brussels.

If you are booking individual tickest, the Dutch railways will book tickets for you in most of Europe easily. Their site seems to be better than others.
Also beware the Eurostar has an airline-style security that you will need to be an hour early to cross. Most trains you can walk up 10-20 minutes prior to departure and be okay. This is not the case on Eurostar.

Good call. I was going to say the same thing except to say 2 hrs during the summer. Summer line can extend past the waiting area and down the hall.

You are getting good advice on booking so I will add this-make sure your kids are looking out the window when the train exits the tunnel. The speed is amazing.

I second the advice on buying the train tickets individually vs the rail pass. I came across many reviews where people said they had issue after issue when trying to use their pass at stations all over Europe. Often having to buy tickets on the spot, which of course cost the most and would cause delays.
I just returned from a 32 day trip to 5 European countries and I booked 6 long haul trips (> 2hrs) about 6 weeks ahead of time. I booked 2 round trip day visits (~ 30 min) 1-2 days before the day of train.
