I am headed down to houston for a work conference Oct 28-31 and am looking for suggestions on things to do, places to eat, or events going on. Is halloween weekend big for the houston area?

I'll be at the marriott marquis from sunday-wednesday so I am first trying to decide if I should fly down on saturday and get a hotel room on my own for sat night or if sunday-wednesday will be enough. Monday Oct 29th the conference set up an oktoberfest event at St. Arnauld's brewery, is this brewery any good? Any recs on beers to try? Looks like the rockets are in town on Tuesday the 30th so may try to hit that up. Any other suggestions are appreciated

Pretty sure if the Astros are playing that weekend, they’re in the World Series

Not sure what kind of partying you are into, but Pub Fiction and Cle tend to throw pretty solid Halloween parties even though I haven't been in a few years.

Saint Arnold is alright, they just opened a huge outdoor beer garden, would be great on a nice evening.

Restaurants-Nancy’s Hustle, Theodore Rex, Xochi is located in your hotel-but I prefer Hugo’s or Carcol (owned by the same chef), Ninfa’s on Navigation or El Tiempo on Navigation, UB Preserve is currently my favorite restaurant in the city at the moment, Potente

Thank you for all the tips everyone, greatly appreciated . Still have a month left so I'll bump this around that time period. I really hope things do play out, would be great to go to a once in a lifetime event like that.

If you are wanting some authentic and delicious Thai food, go have lunch at Kanomwan just south of downtown. Get their S1 soup (app) and their H1 beef (entree).

I worked in Singapore and Thailand for several months and can tell you firsthand this is the bestThai food I’ve had outside of that.

Others will probably chime in and tell you that Thai Gourmet is authentic, which is true, but that is on the outskirts of west Houston...and the runner up to Kanomwan.

So authentic that back in March the health department shut them down because they were overrun with roaches and fruit flies.

Haven't been in a few years, but it was good, roaches on the walls notwithstanding.

Definitely visit the Natural Science museum. You can spend hours in there and not see everything. They offer a City Pass with a number of things included for a good deal if you think you’ll have enough time to do everything. I would definitely not go and see the Holocaust museum. It’s in a temporary place right now and is very short and not very interesting. In terms of beers, my two suggestions are the Karbach love street and the St. Arnold’s Art Car IPA. Check out St. Arnold’s brewery if you can the time, it’s a neat place.

Bump for this weekend.

How's the weather been down there? We're at stage long sleeve and sweatshirt weather up here so anything warmer will be an improvement. I'll check out the science museum if they're open on sunday, keep reading about the museum after dark where they're open til 9pm? Anyone have more info? Also got upgraded on my flights tomorrow morning so we're off to a good start
