Just a free PSA: the omnibus bill that Congress passed and President Biden signed funds the government through the end of September. If you're looking at what's happening in Washington now and thinking that everybody is going to get together on spending bills that will fund the government after that, then I don't know what to tell you.

I had a trip planned to Guadeloupe Mountains National Park and Carlsbad Caverns that got derailed in the last government shutdown, when the parks had to close. Don't let it happen to you.

I didn’t think the parks close for shutdowns. Just no services. We went to Grand Canyon during the last shutdown due to LSU bowl game and wasn’t much of an issue.

Although, we didn’t do much in the park as it was a last minute trip. We didn’t need the help of park rangers or visitors center. I would imagine certain parks wouldn’t be affected much depending on your itinerary. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Looks like a good time to plan an elk hunting trip at Grand Teton NP.

no services
no rangers
no visitors centers
no trash pick up
no park run lodges
no res.gov permits for backcountry or camping
no ticketed tours or ticketed access hikes/etc

the parks themselves are always open 24/7
