As I sit here in our hotel room, after just finishing up an entire day at universal and islands of adventure with my wife and 2 sons (13 and 10), you couldn’t pay me to take a 2 year old to a theme park for a day. No damn way. Besides, it’s a total waste because they won’t remember a thing about it. We had an absolute blast though.

Let Us Pray
If I remember, I’ll post live pics. I think we’ll be able to hit a lot before 10am.

No, the point some of us are trying to make is that Disney specifically isn’t ideal for every 2 year old. Some 2 year olds just want to run around and be wild, and don’t want to wait in lines or be stuck in a stroller for most of the day.

Well I’ve had 3 of them so I’m well aware.

The point I’m trying to make is there are even more dads and parents that don’t enjoy going on vacation with their kids no matter what it is.

Disney is literally made for kids, you don’t go to Disney with a 2 year old the same way you would with a teenager...obviously. But if you can’t have fun with a 2 year old in Disney I feel bad for you honestly...it’s build to blow their minds.

Part of the reason, as I’ve said already, is Disney has tons of stuff to keep them busy outside of just the big rides. You focus on the shorter wait times, the shows, the parades, etc.

As I said, it’s not my favorite thing to do. But all of my kids absolutely loved it and they aren’t the same personality.

We just got back from a week at Disney.

I'd never take a 2 year old there, but I don't have any issue with those that want to do it. There's still plenty for them to do.

Its also about learning to travel and vacation with them, and having a good time with them. Experiencing new things as a family with them.

Is the argument really lets not do a single thing with a kid under 3 because they won't remember it? That's not how life works.

No. Are you being intentionally obtuse?

The argument is that if they're not going to remember it very long anyway, I'm going to take them to do things that I also enjoy without them and I don't enjoy Disney. We can learn to travel and vacation and experience new things as a family while doing things that I'll actually have fond memories of long after they've forgotten. And build the foundation for later trips that they will remember. Just an example - Will they remember their first time skiing? No, by the time they are teenagers it will just be something they've always known how to do that we enjoy together. But I'll have great memories of those first trips, not how much I hated being there and had to keep reminding myself I was "doing it for the kids"

Again, if you enjoy Disney, that's great. Take 'em every year and I'm sure you will get the same things out of your disney trips that I do from my not-disney trips. It just seems like some people try to force it in a wallyworld style attempt at fun that the kids are too young to even attempt to appreciate.

I don't see anyone here trying to force Disney at all, only refute the statement that two years is too young. Even in your example, the decision comes down to your preferences not necessarily the kids age.

Taking a two year old to Disney also doesnt mean that can't go on skiing trips or on safari or camping, etc. There's a pretty big difference between "two years is too young for disney" and "well, mom and dad just don't want to to go to Disney".

Essentially, it comes down to answering someones question anecdotally or objectively and to say two years is too young just isn't being objective. Just look how many people here saying they've never done it and would never do it. They don't have any clue but advise against it.

You can, definitely. Not sure where you are staying and how you plan to get to/from the parks but remember that since the reopening, Disney transportation doesnt start running to the parks until about an hour before advertised park opening and the parking lots won't let you in either until that time.

Lines are definitely forming at resort bus stops/skyliner, etc 45+ minutes before the busses start running (especially hollywood studios).

Uber is a good option but depending on the park you're going to, it can get tricky so let me know if you want more details on that

You and everyone else. I don't know how often park reservations fill up, but they are certainly full for those days.

Good luck. Have fun.

Will your two year old keep a mask on? We looked into going to Disney and I couldn’t believe their mask policy is 2 and up. There’s no way in hell my two year old will wear a mask and I don’t know many two year olds that would. So, we’re going to Universal because their mask policy is 3 and up.

I am curious how strict they are with the mask policy for 2-year olds. Do they really enforce it for young kids?

ETA: We are thinking about what to do this summer for vacation with our soon to be 2 year old, and another trip to Disney after going just last October keeps coming up. She was under the age requirement for a mask then. There is no way she will put a mask on, much less keep one on, as others here have said.

They enforced it regularly with toddlers when we were there 3 weeks ago.

However, Disney World relaxed the mask policy effective today for taking outdoor pictures without a mask on. Maybe they'll continue to get rid of the mask rules as summer approaches.

2 is to young they won’t remember it. My wife took our daughter she didn’t remember it.

Now she’s 4.5 and we are going just before she hits her 5th birthday in between thanksgiving an Christmas. That’s the perfect age. You’re welcome

I’m surprised they didn’t do this sooner. I’d think they probably took a big hit on their photo pass sales. Not sure why people would pay $169 for pictures of everyone in masks.

I have an 8 and 5 year old and we are still waiting because I don’t want to bring a stroller or hear youngest is too tired to walk anymore

The stroller comes in handy. If they want to take a nap they’ve got it to sleep in and when they are walking or riding throw the backpack and cooler in it to keep from carrying it around all day.

I used to live in Williamsburg Virginia and did double stroller for years, had season passes for Busch gardens and we went almost every weekend for years. I done with strollers
